Pools of water
During high tide, the water brings plants and animals in
from the ocean to the shore. As the water moves back
out to the ocean at low tide, many plants and animals
get trapped in small holes on rocky shores that stay lled
with water. These water-lled holes are called tide pools.
Tide pools form on rocky
shores, like this one on
Vancouver Island, Canada.
They are lled with salt water
from the ocean.
