Introduction
This is a story of children from different countries and how they have each chosen a pet for a best friend. These pets include dogs, cats, a hedgehog, a tortoise, and other exotic animals. It teaches that any pet, regardless of the species, can become a best friend. This story is full of love. It is also meant to teach a child that if he is going to have a pet as a best friend, he needs to take care of it and keep it healthy.
Hey! My name is Bonnie, and I live in Virginia, which is in the United States. My best friend is a bunny rabbit named Betsy, and I love her very much. We have a lot of fun together. Betsy loves when I take her outside, and her favorite thing to do is to eat the clover in the yard. I wonder if she has ever eaten a four leaf clover. Our favorite game is hopscotch. Bunny rabbits are very good hoppers, but I always seem to win when we play the game. I love taking care of Betsy, and I am proud to call her my best friend.
Hallo! My name is Sadella, and I live in Australia. My best friend is a sugar glider; she looks a lot like a flying squirrel. I call her my Sweet Sugar Baby. Sugar is very cute and cuddly, and she sleeps in a little pouch. Sugar gliders are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day and stay awake at night. Sugar Baby sleeps while I am in school, so we play together before I go to bed. Sugar loves to sit with me when I am doing my homework. I love Sweet Sugar Baby, and I am proud to call her my best friend.
Buongiorno! My name is Rosa, and I live in Italy. My best friend is a kitty cat named Roma Marie. She is so pretty with all of her different colored stripes. We love to sit on the front porch in the morning after eating a good breakfast. The view is so beautiful over the fields of grapevines. Roma Marie and I have so much fun together. We love to watch my father make grape juice. He mashes the grapes with his hands in a big barrel. I laugh at him because his hands turn purple. I love taking care of Roma Marie, and I am proud to call her my best friend.
Ello! My name is Adam. I live in England, and my best friend is a tortoise named Albert. We love walking through the woods, especially when we are going to the lake. Albert does not like to swim in the water, but he loves to drink it. My best friend Albert is a land turtle that can weigh as much as sixty five pounds. Albert loves to eat worms and green, leafy vegetables yuck! But if it keeps him healthy, that is what I will feed him. I love taking care of Albert, and I am proud to call him my best friend.
Hola! My name is Jose, and I live in Spain. My best friend is an iguana named Jiggy. He is green and has spikes going down his back. My best friend Jiggy has a long tail, and it can hurt if it hits you by mistake. We have a lot of fun together when we go for walks on the beach. Jiggy loves to show off his shiny, spiked collar. He wears a collar so I can walk him on a leash to make sure he does not run away. His favorite foods are fruits and vegetables, and so are mine. They are very good for us because they are full of vitamins. I love taking care of Jiggy, and I am proud to call him my best friend.
Bonjour! My name is Francesca, and I live in France. My best friend is a French poodle. Her name is Frances, and she is very prissy. My best friend Frances wears a curly white coat, a poufy white hat, and poufy white boots. We love to take a morning walk; we always stop by the Eiffel Tower to get a bagel. Frances loves going to the dog park, because all of the dogs are in awe when they see her. Frances really loves to show off her curly white coat, poufy hat, and boots. Frances and I have so much fun together. I love Frances, and I am very proud to call her my best friend.
Moin! My name is Klaus, and I live in Germany. My best friend is a pony named Kashmere. We have so much fun together. Our favorite thing to do together is to take a walk through the snow. Kashmere is a pony, so he does all of the work; all I have to do is ride on his back in a saddle. He makes me laugh when he starts to trot. It is so fun. Kashmere sure does eat a lot of food. His favorite snacks are apples and oats, but he eats mostly grass and hay. I love Kashmere, and I am proud to call him my best friend.
Hujambo! My name is Haidar, and I live in Africa. My best friend is a hedgehog named Hedgee. Hedgehogs are not cuddly like dogs and cats because they have prickly quills instead of fur. Hedgee does not like to cuddle, but he loves to sit in my lap and watch television. We love to watch all of the fun animal shows. Hedgee is really cute and makes funny noises, and I love taking care of him. I am very proud to call Hedgee my best friend.
