I am four years old, standing in the living room, not doing anything in particular, when suddenly, inexplicably, the air around me shifts and I can see the energy of the Universe. The air appears particulate, as does everything around it: our plain-legged furniture, my baby brothers white playpeneverything moves both fast and slow at the same time, and I see a shimmer that is everywhere and everything.

Yet I am just a small child... I tell my mother I see dust, and ask, does she see it too?

I am able to see this way for many yearsthis shifting, as if one dimension has suddenly overlapped another, and the essence of the Universe is revealed.

I am in fifth grade. Ive just arrived home from the library with a stack of books so tall I cant carry them in one armloadthick tomes on religion, metaphysics, sacred texts. I want to determine what religion I will be, I tell my mother. She doesnt have any answers, but she takes me back to the library every week. Over time, I read all the books in these sections.

None of my questions are answered.

I am a child, perhaps eight, and we are at the coast for Thanksgiving. My brother and I wade in a small stream that flows from the forest to the Pacific, jeans rolled to our knees, feet red with cold. A breeze roars in over the ocean, and at that moment I hear God. I know this deeplyas completely as Ive understood anything.

These mystic moments are just a small handful of what I now pull from my childhood memory bag. Looking back, reviewing this tiny sampling, makes it easier for me to understand how it is that today, as an adult, Im psychic.

Of course, I didnt have the words for any of these mystic moments when I was a kid. My parents simply dubbed me sensitive or creative. Most psychic and spiritually gifted children are similarly misnomered. It wasnt until decades later that I finally understood that my confusing ability to sense, see, and hear in a different dimension was the start of psychic and spiritual opening. Back then, in the dark ages of my childhood, nobody knew how this stuff worked.

Luckily, we do now.

Introduction

Today I did a psychic reading for a client, had an enlightening discussion with my spirit guides, and scribed four pages of The Messages spiritual teachings that I receive via channeled writing.

Oh, yesI also transported three kids to school, whipped out five loads of laundry, and slammed together a family-sized lasagna for dinner.

I am a psychicand I am a mother.

This unique commingling of the intuitive and the maternal in my life has given me extraordinary insight into the needs of todays psychic and spiritually gifted children.
