I would like to thank Dr Wayne Dyer, Dr John Demartini and Rhonda Byrne, authors and public speakers, for being such inspirational leaders in their field and for sharing their spiritual, practical and magical messages with the world and the huge impact these teachings have had on my life.
I would like to acknowledge my family: my brother and sisters who, in their own unique way, have supported me through this transition in my life; my mother for doing what she does best in just being a mother; and my father who is no longer with us, I thank him for all the inspirational thoughts he used to share throughout my childhood which opened my heart and mind to believe that anything is possible.
I would like to thank a dear friend who without even knowing it has given me the strength, courage and conviction in helping me find who I truly am, thus the foundation from which I am able to write this book.
I would like to thank the KPI team and network for their leadership, guidance and support in helping me succeed with making this book happen; and the creation of a business to emerge from this process, as to what will be, a selection of handbooks that will be a guide to intelligent parenting the world is so desperately asking for. To Daniel Priestley for pulling the entrepreneurial package together, to Mike Harris for the Perfect Pitch, to Mindy Gibbins-Klein for her guidance in the creation of this book. Darren Shirlaw for the development of products and intellectual property, to Penny Power in the creation of amazing online presence, and Sh Wasmund for the power and insight of Joint Venture Partnerships. All of these components add up to a winwin for everyone. What vision and insight the collaboration of these key people of influence have given me the knowledge that I have gained in being a part of their world therefore helping me in my quest to succeed. I thank you all.
Last but not least I would like to thank my children who are the inspiration for this book and my life. The enthusiasm for my life comes from them; my journey with them has inspired the creation of this book and for me to share with every parent in the world the joy parenting is able to bring through their children by being the best parent we are able to be. God bless you Emma for being the creative and loving mother that you are to Benjamin, Joseph and George, and for being my sounding board throughout this whole process. God bless you Chris for all the work and insights you share with the world in wanting us all to have a healthy body, diet and mind and supporting me with that endeavour. God bless you Sarah for your creativity and love, and the love that you put into all that you create and share with the world in your design work with fabrics and ceramics.

Introduction
This book is for parents mothers and fathers who are about to embark on potty training. No matter if you have been through the potty training process before or if this is your first time, I want this book to be accessible to every parent. It contains a new and innovative approach to potty training, while at the same time it will prepare you so that you are confident to guide your child through the process. Its about putting potty training into perspective and showing you how to avoid the pitfalls created by myths, guilt and the power game, to the benefits of being able to free up time and energy to enjoy your child and parenting too. Its about explaining the importance of your preparation in being ready and able to guide your child through the process.
This is a hands on intelligent guide to parenting and with the busy nature of life today I want to share how this is a useful and productive guide to the bigger picture of parenting in this changing world. If we strip all the busyness of life away, Mother Nature gives every mother the natural ability to nurture and guide their child; however, with the hustle and bustle of life today, this natural instinct may be clouded or completely hidden altogether. This said, we also have men taking over what was the mothering role and in its full capacity becoming househusbands.
Therefore, for many different reasons, we have an increasing number of adults who are without the skills and natural instincts of being able to understand their childs needs. Since a child is so young, they do not have the verbal capacity to connect however it is essential to quickly and effectively build up a respectful and meaningful connection with them. Potty training is the way to make this happen.
This is a three-stage guide to successful potty training that, once understood, will give you confidence in knowing when to start and certain knowledge of how to take them through. I truly believe once mastered, this process is a task that will be performed in a shorter time and achieved with less effort than most parents could ever imagine.
If your child is ready to embark on potty training or you have already taken other children through this process, the key element to recognise here is that potty training is about a joint venture between you and your child and any respectful communications learnt here have the potential to be carried through.
As I come to the end of this introduction, I would like to acknowledge that I do appreciate the role men contribute today in bringing up their children. When I refer to mother and child throughout this book it is not a slight against all the good work they contribute as parents; its just easier in the context of this book to lay it out in this way.

Recognise what you are doing for your childs sake
Parenting is such a wide arena that many say doesnt come with a handbook, so for me choosing a subject to write as the first Intelligent Parents guide is vast. However, I have chosen to focus on potty training because potty training is the first joint venture you and your child take together, and if not managed correctly while they are at this young age, is a process that is truly able to damage their confidence and self-esteem.
This book is firstly about giving awareness, and then guidance towards approaching potty training in a manageable way, so you are able to eliminate this risk. What I am going to share with you here is not impossible because I have brought up three children of my own and with least time, money and effort, successfully guided them through the potty training process and my daughter is now going on to do the same. Therefore, I am absolutely clear that with the knowledge and understanding I have gathered here, this process will work for you too.
