Id like to dedicate this book to my wife, Patti.
All year long she listens to me babble on about
cartoon ideas. Whats more, shes a great fan
of my work. Her encouragement and patience
is a constant source of inspiration for me.
A cartoonist couldnt ask for more.

Foreword

So.

Youre looking for a warm, fuzzy Christmas book. You know, the one thats full of the sort of gentle humor that sometimes makes you chuckle, sometimes makes you nod knowingly, or sometimes just makes you sigh and smile. Tis the season for these types of reactions after all, tisnt it? Sure tis. Now buy this book, take it home, pull out your favorite comfy blanket, make yourself some egg nog, and snuggle in for a nice read.
Oh, and you might want to have a dish towel handy,
cause that egg nogs comin right out your nose.
This aint your fathers Christmas cartoon book. Its not warm, and when its fuzzy, theres usually some sort of body hair involved. No, this book is irreverent, gross, shameless...and downright hilarious. This is my kinda bookit made me laugh out loud, something I rarely do (and not just because of my halitosis). You may never look at Christmas tree balls the same way again. Frankly, you may never hold them the same way again, either (youll see what I mean). How does Dan get away with this stuff? I dont know, but its killing me. I want to draw these jokes! Heck, I just want to think of these jokes!
If you want your Christmas humor cute and pleasant, move on to the next bookshelf. But if you want your belly shaking like a bowl full of jelly, keep reading. You wont be sorry. And now, if youll excuse me, I need to grab another dish towel.
