Korean Games and Activities to Try
! Gawi, bawi, bo! Scissors, Rock, Paper! Although this game is to choose who is it when playing another game, or to decide who will go first, many Korean children like to play this as the main game. They may choose to see who can win the most times out of 10 or however many points they decide on. (Notice that the order of the three things in the Korean name of this game gawi, bawi, bo may be different from how you say it in your own language!) To start this game you begin with two or more players who will shout Gawi, bawi, bo! On the word bo everyone simultaneously thrusts a hand into the center of the group. The players each form scissors (two extended fingers), a rock (clenched fist), or paper (flat hand) with that hand. The winner is as follows: A rock would break a scissors, scissors would cut a paper, and paper would cover a rock.
Making Bulgogi Food is a hugely important part of the Korean culture.

Bulgogi is a traditional Korean beef recipe. It goes really well with white riceand try eating it using a pair of chopsticks! Its fun and delicious.
Serves 2 adults per pound of beef
For each pound of beef (ground beef is good too): 3 tablespoons of soy sauce 2 tablespoons of sesame oil 2 tablespoons of sugar 2 tablespoons of Coca-Cola (This is the secret. Shh!) 2 teaspoons of chopped or minced garlic 2 tablespoons chopped scallions or onion
Place all these ingredients except the beef in a bowl and stir well with a - photo 1 Place all these ingredients (except the beef) in a bowl, and stir well with a spoon. Then add the beef, and marinate for about 2 hours. Cook the beef by either pan-frying or grilling. Koggiri ko Elephant Nose Hold your nose with your left hand like youre - photo 2

Your right arm is now the elephants trunk. Place a group of a few flash cards in the middle of the room. Then, everyone (with their elephants trunk in place) spins 5 times, and tries to grab one card with their trunk. Next, say the word on your card in Korean. Try counting up to 5 in Korean as you play this game you can vary the number of spins and counting as you go. Another variation: One person acts as the caller, and can call out one specific Korean card as the others spin.

Then, whoever succeeds in grabbing the correct card and saying that Korean word correctly, wins!

! Shyoping har gaja! Lets Go Shopping! Using play money, kids can go shopping around the house or the classroom to practice their Korean. Start by asking lma eyo? (How much is it?) Then, practice saying:
Gamsa hamnida (Thank you). Bissada (Its expensive). or Ssada (Its cheap).
You can make up the prices as you go. Its a great chance to practice your Korean numbers, 1 through 10! The currency used in Korea is called won ; try saying that word too, along with the numbers, while youre shopping.
! Orlaga! Advance! The word orlaga literally means go up.

This is a fun practice game to play when youve mastered some words; it gets kids moving from one side of the room to the other! This activity has unlimited number of players, and the winner is the first one to get to the other side of the room or any other destination you choose. The leader, usually an adult/teacher, says a word in English. If the child can say the word in Korean, the leader shouts ! Orlaga! (Advance!) and the child is allowed to take one step forward. For example, the leader may say Dog! in English. If the childs able to say ( Ge ), then its time for the leader to shout ! Orlaga! and for the child to take a step ahead.
