About the Authors

Luke Kratz grew up in Pocatello and has been hiking in Idaho since he was very young. When he got his copy of the Hikers Guide to Idaho, it was a new trail every weekend to explore and enjoy! He has degrees from Missouri State University and Idaho State University and has always been involved in environmental protection organizations. In addition to hiking and traveling he enjoys writing, recording, and performing music on piano and guitar. He currently lives near the Idaho border in Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming, where he has been teaching music for Lincoln County School District for the last eight years.

Ralph Maughan is a professor of political science and coauthor of the FalconGuide Hiking Wyomings Teton and Washakie Wilderness Areas. He draws on thirty years of wilderness experience and leadership in such groups as the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, of which he was a founder.

Jackie Johnson Maughan is a writer and a university instructor of English. She has published two outdoor recreation books related to women and has compiled and edited Go Tell It on the Mountain (Stackpole Books), a book of essays by fire lookouts. Jackie was a fire lookout for four summers.
