T HIS CHAPTER WILL INTRODUCE YOUto the Arduino and the Raspberry Pi. First, I give a brief explanation of what the Arduino is. Then I specifically address the Arduino Uno, discussing its general features, including its capabilities and key functional components. This is followed by a discussion of the Arduino Integrated Development Environment (IDE) software, which is needed to develop programs for the Arduino. Each key function of the Arduino IDE is reviewed, followed by a hands-on example giving detailed step-by-step instructions on how to set up the Arduino for development and how to run and modify an example program using the Arduino IDE.
