The book in your hands is not just a book; it is a dream coming true. It is a dream I saw when I was studying in MNIT, Jaipur; A dream to become a writer. To make this dream come true, I had to sit home doing nothing but writing and thinking about this book for about one year but all that is history now. It would be very wrong if I dont give the persons their due respect for the efforts they made to make this dream a reality for without their help, this was perhaps impossible to make it happen.

Starting from the start, it was my friend Vishwanath who prompted me to write this book and was with me all the way from the beginning. He was an unconditional help whenever I felt low. I would be thankful for the inspiration I got from my brother cum friend, Pravesh. Also the support I got from my parents is also something which kept me moving. I am lucky that I got such a great family.

I would like to thank the team of Srishti Publishers who worked very hard to make this book a success. I am really thankful for their continuous support and guidance through every step in publishing this book. Otherwise it was only the words I had; it is because of them that these words have now taken the shape of a book.

Finally I would thank to all the persons who came in my life and gave me the experiences which helped me to write this book. They taught me that life is not in branded clothes, expensive accessories or spending time at pubs with lot of wine. Life is in moments; moments filled with empathy, sympathy, trust and respect towards ones own relationships. In this book, I have tried to return this people what I got from them and I hope you will like my bit of love.

Prologue

For a family in which the head had died only a few days back, the environment in the house was not exactly what would have been elsewhere. Everybody in the house was trying certain maneuver to figure out the exact equation and make the most of the situation. And why this should not happen, when the owner of the house had left a property worth billions of rupees specifying no clear successor. People were making claims for the property but the person most likely to be the heir was feeling suffocated in this enigma and packing his luggage to leave as soon as possible. That gave a hard time to the person, who was trying to stop him.

Why do you want to leave so early? I know you dont have anything important to do.

What do you know about me? I have lots of things to do. I cannot afford to waste my time here anymore.

Waste my time, how can he waste his time here? This is his damn home.

Your father just died and you cannot even wait for few months here till everything settles down. You have a big property to take care of. What kind of a son are you?

Dont give me that psychological crap. I know all you want is to win this property for me and have fame and money out of it.

Yes sir, I do want to have this high profile case in my kitty and with you, I have the best chance to win it.

You are getting it all wrong. You know my father worked for yours all his life, now when he has retired, it is my duty to take care of you. Your father would have liked it, wouldnt he?

I dont know all that. First of all, uncle Ranjit is taking care of all this property so I dont have to bother. Second, I dont want to listen to people saying what my father would have liked. I dont have any interest in this property.

He is insane, even people who dont have any remote connection, have interest in this property. A small share can make them a millionaire.

Listen, may be you dont have any interest in it, what if your uncle loses, or gets a very small share. With so many people hungry for this property there is a good chance that it will end up in safe hands if you also stake a claim. Plus you dont have to do anything. You just sign these papers and I will take care of the rest.

Ok, tell me where to sign. I dont have time to let you try and convince me. I should better not argue with a lawyer. Prince eventually surrendered in front of his lawyers wish. A prince by chance, not by choice.

Finally, there was a sigh of relief as Mike opened his briefcase and handed over some papers and a pen telling him where to sign. Approval came sooner than he expected. He looked closely at the signatures which showed the name of the prince, A. Yashwardhan.

After all the papers were signed, Prince asked,

So who are the other people claiming this property?

Almost all your relatives; but they wont get any major share for sure. There are two important claims apart from yours; one is your uncle Ranjits and second, a woman who claims to be your fathers widow.

Hmm, do you know anything about her?

She came out of the blue. Nobody in the family knows her. She may be genuine or just a whore trying her luck. I doubt whether she has any documents to prove her claim.

That means I have the best chance of winning this property.

Yes, and you are leaving. Anyways, where are you going?

Thats none of your business. With a sharp reply Prince slung his bag on his shoulder and started walking towards the door.

NEW APARTMENT

I t was raining when the cab stopped with a jerk outside a high rise building. By this time Roshen was fast asleep. The driver woke him up. He pulled his luggage out of the cab and paid the driver. Squinting, he glanced towards the, Vrindawan Apartments. It looked like an old building from outside where the accommodation had been arranged by his friend because it was of course, least expensive and close to his new office.

I have told your roommate that you would be coming tonight Sangeet, Roshens friend and colleague had told him on phone earlier that day.

But I will reach there after midnight. Wont it be a problem?

Nah, you just reach there and join duty as soon as possible and remember, your apartment number is 507, 5th floor. Good night.

OK, Good night said Roshen but before he completed, the line was already cut and all he could hear was a beep.

He dragged his bag and got into the lift. There was no watchman around but this did not really bother him. There was very little in his luggage to worry about. No gadgets, no expensive belongings, just some cloths and books. 507, 5th floor, he reminded himself.

Soon he was standing in front of his apartment and to his surprise; the door was wide open even at that time of the night. It was still raining outside but the open doors at this hour worried him a little. He switched on the torch in his cell phone which threw very small amount of light. With muddy feet, he entered the apartment for the first time in his life, without knowing that for the rest of his life, he will always remember it.
