Haughey|Gregory was commissioned by Fishamble: The New Play Company and developed with support from NIC 2020, Maureen OSullivan TD, ASTI, and the Croke Park Community Fund.
Fishamble premiered the play on 8 February, 2018, on the Abbey Theatres Peacock Stage, and at Mountjoy Prison, Dil ireann, and Croke Park. It was the recipient of the Nasc Touring Network Award and toured nationally, with support from the Arts Council, Nasc, and Dublin Town, in April and May, 2019. Fishamble also presented special performances in Croke Park and Larkin College in 2019. Fishambles living archive is in the National Library of Ireland. Fishamble is at the heart of new writing for theatre in Ireland, not just through its productions, but through its extensive programme of training, development and mentoring schemes. These currently include A Play for Ireland, the New Play Clinic and Show in a Bag, which is run in partnership with Dublin Fringe Festival and Irish Theatre Institute. Each year, Fishamble typically supports over 50 per cent of the writers of all new plays produced on the island of Ireland.
