DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to the memory of Betty Meyler, who was a great friend and an avid student of all things paranormal. Her presence will be with us always.
It is also dedicated to the memory of Ken Potts, who provided the authors with up-to-the-minute data on strange phenomena from around the world. We will greatly miss his wit and banter.

CONTENTS
We wish to acknowledge and thank the following people for their encouragement and support in the research and writing of this book: Carlo Cretaro, Amy Nally, Val Young, Gerry Butler, Fiona Loughran, Ross Nally, Graham Meates, Kevin Jenkinson, B. J. OBrien, John Scarry, A. J. Gevaerd, Maureen OToole, Rob Gahan and Mike Foylan.
We would especially like to thank amonn Ansbro, astronomer and director of Kingsland Observatory near Boyle, County Roscommon. In 1975 he detected moonquakes which were verified by NASA, and in 1976 he discovered a nova, Vulpecula . In more recent times, he has contributed to NASAs Deep Impact mission and is leading the way towards a scientific comprehension of the perplexing riddle posed by Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. His involvement in and papers on the subject are outstanding. We are grateful to him for his contribution and friendship.
We are indebted to all those who have contacted us about their personal experiences, and who gave freely of their time to be interviewed and to complete the necessary paperwork which ensured the inclusion of their experiences in our files.
Finally, we wish to express our gratitude to the many contributors who had faith in us to help them explore their paranormal encounters and to bring their experiences together as one, with one understanding.
Two months before Orville and Wilbur Wrights historic flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, USA, a top scientist declared that no possible combination of known substances, known forces of machinery and known forms of force can be united in a practical [flying] machine. Germ theory was first advanced in ancient Sanskrit texts thousands of years ago, but wasnt widely accepted until late in the nineteenth century. The British Astronomer Royal declared space travel utter bilge in 1956, one of a long line of scientists who proved it was impossible.
Throughout history, it has been difficult, even impossible, to promote the acceptance of new discoveries. Yet during the last two centuries there has been a veritable explosion of new cures, theories, techniques and inventions that have revolutionised aviation, space travel, communications, medicine and warfare.
Most of them, of course, were deemed impossible.
This book presents an intriguing look at Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) and other mysteries. The literature on UAP is littered with examples of people making their minds up without studying the evidence. Even worse is when they do study the evidence and then reject certain aspects of that evidence that do not fall in line with their preconceived positions.
Many scientific misjudgements have been made in the past, as well as occasional resistance towards accepting the veracity (or lack of it) of observed scientific/physical phenomena. The authors of this book, two well-known Irish researchers of the paranormal, argue that the same problems apply to the topics discussed here.
The writing style is lively, friendly, engaging, packed with fascinating information and quite accessible. I found it captivating. This book can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter what their beliefs are about the mysteries discussed. This includes science buffs and anybody with common sense who is interested, in particular, in how the situation concerning UAP and other mysteries can be suppressed (or ignored, or disbelieved) until the evidence becomes overwhelming.
After more than sixty years of denial, ridicule and dismissal, many scientists, academics, political figures and senior military personnel are taking these topics seriously. For those who question why, this book provides the answer. The authors offer compelling accounts that physical objects, with flight characteristics not yet achievable through known technology, are active in many mysterious events in our skies. They also investigate other fascinating subjects that need to be solved.
Throughout the book, the authors present irrefutable evidence that UAP which are seemingly able to manoeuvre in ways that defy the laws of physics actually exist. UAP and other mysteries seem like tangible, mocking proof that the universe is a much stranger place than humanity, with its dogmatic consensus reality, wants to accept.
There are millions of people around the world who have had strange experiences that no one can yet explain, because such experiences, such phenomena, defy explanation by the rules of physics that we take for granted. This book details these experiences and phenomena, despite the media, scientific and governmental states of denial.
amonn Ansbro,
Astronomer
Director, Kingsland Observatory
This books pages tell of mysterious events in aviation, after which the details of the experiences of those involved have either been tailored to meet the demands of officialdom, or simply ignored because they are deemed to be unacceptable to the reporting norms of the aviation safety and regulatory authorities.
Our research shows that the sky above us can be a very peculiar place. In attempting to investigate various mysteries of the sky, some researchers have run the gauntlet of having their careers adversely affected. A few, though, have been determined enough to carry on with their research work, come what may. Astronomer amonn Ansbro, who wrote this books foreword, is one such individual.
Those who involve themselves in the study of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) routinely suffer the slings and arrows of either less open-minded contemporaries, or a debunking (though rarely informed) media corps. Or both. A thick skin is called for in such dealings. However, when suspected elements of the intelligence services become involved, surely even the most ardent sceptic is forced to face the fact that there is something to the subject after all, despite any comments to the contrary from the political masters of such elements. Meeting a wall of silence from the world of officialdom about UAP is one thing, but it is quite another when unknown forces engage in breaking into researchers homes, when nothing at all is stolen but their investigative work has clearly been rifled through. We live in a shadowy world where nothing really changes as governments come and go, but where a lid is still kept on certain subjects thanks to an old guard of senior career civil servants. The UAP puzzle is one such subject, with awkward questions being routinely parried or ignored. Or else they are buried, sometimes for years, or decades, thanks to an efficient secrecy policy, or managed data (or even no data at all) being released to the press. It is through such policies that certain uncomfortable events are buried well away from public scrutiny.
