of powerful equipment for your character. Minecraft is
famous for its open-ended, creative style of game play.
The main thing many players love about the game is
that they can play it however they want.
But Minecraft is more than just a wide-open world
or a building game. It has an immediately recogniz
able setting and art style that sets it apart from any
other game. It also has a colorful cast of characters,
monsters, and animals beloved by countless players.
However, as an open-ended sandbox game, it lacks
any kind of story mode. There are no goals for the
main character other than the ones players set for
themselves. There is no epic conclusion.
If youve ever wished to explore the Minecraft
world in a whole new way, Minecraft: Story Mode
could be the game for you. It tells an exciting story
full of action and adventure. And it features all of the
characters, settings, and other things that Minecraft
players know and love.
The characters in Story Mode attend an event
called EnderCon. Its a lot like real-life Minecon
events!
Choosing what your character will say is a big part
of playing Story Mode .
Youll get to travel through familiar areas such as
the Nether, the End, and the Overworld. Everything in
the game world has the blocky, colorful look of regular
Minecraft . Youll get to craft items, collect resources,
and build things. But youll also get to have conversa
tions with funny and interesting characters. Youll get
to solve puzzles and choose how the story unfolds.
Youll even get to enjoy thrilling action scenes that are
like something out of your favorite animated movie.
Despite its name, Story Mode is not actually a
mode within Minecraft . It is an entirely separate
game. You cannot play it using your current copy of
Minecraft. You wont be able to bring the worlds or
characters youve created in Minecraft into Story Mode .
It is a very different kind of game. It has its own unique
control system and its own characters that you wont
find in the standard Minecraft game.

Plenty of Ways to Play

game and a game console or other device to play it on. Luckily, if youve played regular

most current video game consoles, too. The game will even work on an Apple TV device.
Even if youve never played Minecraft before, you

game was made with Minecraft fans in mind. Whether
youre a lifelong player or a newcomer, youll find a lot
to like in Story Mode . There are in-jokes, references,

huge Minecraft fans, too! Are you curious yet? Lets

Making the
Game
F
or years after Minecraft was first released in 2009,
fans kept asking for a story mode to be added to
the game. As much as they loved the setting and
style of Minecraft , they wanted to know more about
the world and its characters. What made the Ender

and dangerous place?
Minecraft s developer , Mojang, heard these
requests loud and clear. However, the team at
Mojang was always busy making other additions
and improvements to Minecraft . They did not have the
time to create a story mode for their hit game.
Meanwhile, fans around the world kept discussing
their ideas for stories set in the Minecraft world.
Among these fans were the talented developers at

Telling Stories in Minecraft
The creators at Telltale Games were not the first people to tell interesting stories set in the
Minecraft world. For years, many fans had used the game to create YouTube videos telling
stories of their own creation. They would build sets in the game, then use their characters
to act out scripts. Afterward, they added in voices to make the characters talk. This kind of
creativity is what Minecraft is all about!
games are even based on other video games!
For instance, Tales from the Borderlands turns the
Borderlands series of first-person shooting games into
a comedic adventure story.
Like many video game players, the people at
Telltale have long been huge fans of Minecraft . Some
of the companys employees even run their own
server where they can go on adventures and share
their Minecraft creations with each other.
In 2012, Telltale was working on Tales from the
Borderlands . The team was very happy with the way
the game was coming along, and they started thinking
about more ideas for story-focused games based
on other video games. As they brainstormed ideas,
they thought about the fun times they had shared
playing Minecraft together. They realized that some
of the funny things that had happened while they
played would make perfect scenes in a story.
In 2013, the developers at Telltale approached
Mojang with their idea to create a story-based game
set in the Minecraft world. Right away, Mojang
