Ever since President John F Kennedy was gunned down in Dallas fifty years ago various theories have swirled around what was a key event in American - and world - history. JFKs death affected the Cold War, Vietnam, and the economic and social history of the United States. Whatever the conclusions of the US official Warren Report - that the President had been assassinated by a lone gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald - many people doubt that to be true. Indeed, President Nixon later admitted on tape that the report was a hoax committed on the American people.

John Hughes-Wilson, a former colonel in British Intelligence, set out in 2007 to go through the millions of words and thousands of pieces of evidence, to put together an intelligence jigsaw of what really happened that dreadful high noon in Dallas in 1963. The result is a dramatic exposure of what really happened and a clear indication that, while some of the pieces of that jigsaw may be missing, the truth is emerging. While the US Federal Archive still keeps a million documents relating to the case under lock and key, he has uncovered enough information available for us now to see the overall picture. It is beyond reasonable doubt that Jack Kennedy was the victim of a plot to remove the President of the United States. John Hughes-Wilson highlights the facts behind:The myth of CamelotJack Kennedys insatiable sex lifeWhy Marilyn Monroe had to be silencedHow the President was blackmailed by J Edgar HooverLBJs corrupt and murderous secretsHow the Kennedys secretly planned a coup in CubaHow a hero of the revolution wanted to work for the CIAWhy Israel and the White House were openly at loggerheadsMHow the Mafia manipulated politicians and the CIARogue elements in the CIAHow the assassination was covered up- and whyWhat the KGB discovered

Reading this book no-one can be in any doubt that JFKs life was not at the hands of a lone deranged gunman, but a deadly plot to remove a President who threatened vested interests at home and abroad.

CONTENTS

B ecause many of the topics I have written about in this book are not only highly contentious but will undoubtedly provoke indignant challenges, I am compelled to weary the reader with extensive indications of my sources, so that the reader may rest assured that even what appears to be the least credible part of the narrative is securely rooted in contemporary records, archived documentation, or secondary sources which have been broadly accepted as fact. The full notes are available online at www.jfkcoupdetat.wordpress.com.

Where the jigsaw of evidence lacks the occasional piece, I have followed the logic of Ockhams razor, which says that the simplest and most obvious explanation of events is usually the correct one.

This is a book written as an intelligence assessment of the best evidence available to us, not as some prosecuting attorneys wearisome legal argument beyond all possible doubt. That is impossible given the fact that so much evidence remains locked away still.

If the narrative therefore sometimes lacks lawyers courtroom evidence it is because the people and organisations who shot and killed Jack Kennedy went to extraordinary lengths to keep their tracks well covered from lawyers, courts and nosy journalists. There are unsurprisingly few signed confessions to the murder of the President of the USA and the criminal knowledge of the deed. Assassins dont leave tidy paper trails for academic researchers.

What we have instead is the first full assembly of the pieces of the great jigsaw puzzle of information and intelligence that we know about the assassination of JFK. There are, inevitably, some gaps.

But we can make shrewd assessments of these few missing pieces. From that evidence there can only be one logical conclusion, beyond reasonable doubt.

T he assassination of John Kennedy was a world-shattering event.

The world was a very different place in 1963 and the idea that the President of the United States could be gunned down in broad daylight was almost unbelievable. In America men and women wept openly in the streets for their dead leader. But the police and the FBI seemed to be in control and so the murder of the assassin soon afterwards seemed at the time no more than natural justice. The Warren Commissions report explained what had happened. Vietnam, the Beatles, rioting on the streets and the whole roaring tide of the 1960s soon made the Kennedy story fade to a distant memory, and then one of those curious benchmarks of history as a day everyone could remember where they were.

But events soon began to unpick the original version of events. It turned out that official report was little more than a crude government whitewash designed to hide the real truth. Even American presidents admitted as much. President Nixon memorably confessed in private that The Warren Report was the biggest hoax ever perpetrated on the American public. It began to emerge that maybe Lee Harvey Oswald, the original lone nut gunman, may not have acted on his own; others were involved, too. That meant no lone gunman, but a conspiracy.

However, dark theories of conspiracy are nowadays beneath the dignity of serious metropolitan intellectuals and bien pensants. The conspiracies behind the stories of Julius Caesar, Mary Queen of Scots, the French and American Revolutions and the July bomb plot to kill Hitler are accepted as part of the historical record but, for some strange reason, never a conspiracy to murder John F. Kennedy. This dismissive and prejudiced attitude to facts as they emerge only serves to help those who want to suppress the truth for their own dark reasons.

The sheer weight of evidence and the minutiae surrounding the murder of President Kennedy has been trawled over sometimes with great effort by many dedicated individuals over half a century. They have done an immense amount of research and their theories are fascinating, if often conflicting. However, the big question has always been, what does it all mean? It is as if all the pieces of a giant jigsaw have been laid on the table but no one seems to have assembled the puzzle into a coherent picture.

This book attempts to put that jigsaw together and to answer the big question: who really shot JFK? And, more important still, exactly why was he shot?

In the Kennedy case this is not easy. Someone has been laying a smokescreen of disinformation; a lot of smokescreens in fact, and over a long period of time. False evidence and false documents have been planted and every new research discovery has been swiftly greeted by what looks suspiciously like a rapid rebuttal unit hard at work behind the scenes. The result is that it is sometimes hard to separate fact from myth, and truth from fiction, in a wilderness of mirrors and deliberate diversions, worthy of a stage illusion. But one thing has become clear over the years: there was some secret agenda behind the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and someone has gone to great lengths to cover it up.
We can however take comfort from the reaction of President Charles de Gaulle of France. When he was told about the official American explanation of the assassination, he roared with laughter, Vous me blaguez! [Youre kidding me!] Cowboys and Indians in Texas?!

At some time in the future, when a new US President considers it safe for the million documents on the Kennedy assassination still squirreled away in the Archives to be declassified and shown to the taxpayers who actually paid for them, we may learn even more of the hidden stories behind what was rightly called The Crime of the Century by the American media.

Until then my money is on the independent judgement of Jack Kennedys cynical but very well-informed contemporary, President de Gaulle. Someone has been trying to kid a lot of people for a very long time.

We need to get at the truth.

PROLOGUE:
WASHINGTON DC, 21 JANUARY 1961

WHAT DANGERS THREATEN A GREAT REPUTATION!

PLUTARCH

T he group of worthies that gathered in the freezing cold on Capitol Hill on 21 January 1961 was arguably one of the biggest public assemblies of crooks seen in years. Even by Washington DCs standards.

From highest to lowest, the huddled cluster of black suits marshalled to inaugurate the new President reeked not just of intrigue and double-dealing but of deep criminal corruption. Hardly a man among them had clean hands. The new Vice President was deeply implicated in ballot-rigging, theft, bribery and misappropriation of federal funds, and employed his own tame murderer to eliminate political foes and embarrassing family members. He was also in the pay of big business and the Mafia.

The head of the FBI had openly misused federal funds for his own private purposes and had been secretly bugging and blackmailing politicians for years. In his turn, he was being blackmailed by the Mafia and simultaneously receiving payment for keeping his mouth shut about their very existence.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the man who would administer the oath, was effectively in the pockets of both the Leader of the Senate and the head of the FBI. They knew all the judges dark and dirty secrets.

Even the crestfallen leader of the opposition, the man who was supposed to win the election, was bank-rolled by the Mafia, who had been paying his political campaign contributions for years, as well as providing him with free holidays and paying off their mans gambling debts.
