Was Princess Diana, arguably the most famous woman of the modern age, really murdered or was her death a tragic accident? I found it difficult simply to accept that what happened in Paris was just one of those tragic things and has it happened, the jury at the inquest agreed. - Michael Mansfield QC

PROLOGUE

The name of Princess Diana, like her picture, tells a thousand words. The face of Helen of Troy was said to have launched a thousand ships. But in Dianas case, her face kept afloat a thousand publications from newspapers, fashion magazines and a multiple selection of books covering her life and death from every possible angle.

This book concentrates entirely on the last few days of her life, leading up to the terrible crash in the Alma Tunnel in Paris. This is an investigation of the events leading up to Dianas death and assesses the alleged role of British, French and American Intelligence agents in her death. Too many books have been published, claiming to be the definitive story of how Princess Diana was killed, only for readers to find one or two chapters, scantily covering the issue.

Mindful of the serious let downs of other authors in this field, I have spared no blushes, as no investigative journalist should, and I have directly named interested parties and in many cases, where available, published their photographs. Too many authors have pulled their punches but I have not.

As one might expect, I am not in the business of covering up or suppressing unpleasant truths and facts which must be heard if the truth of Dianas death and the cause of it, is ever to be known. And Lady Dis story had everything.

A high speed car chase through the streets of Paris, the worlds most romantic city, with an exotic Egyptian lover, son of a billionaire, allegedly pursued by sinister forces, culminating in a tragic road traffic accident which robbed the world of the Peoples Princess and that special brand of inimitable magic she oozed into the lives of millions of people.

But millions of people do not accept the great accident theory and believe that Diana and Dodi were murdered on the orders of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to eliminate the considerable threat she posed to the House of Windsor.

Other people say that Diana was killed because she was expecting the baby of a Muslim and a mixed-race Muslim sibling to the heirs to the British throne was unacceptable to the Royal Family. Prince Philip described Dodi Fayed as an oily little bed hopper and the Al Fayed family were despised by the British Establishment he had embarrassed so often.

Dianas anti-landmines campaign is also said to be the reason she was murdered to prevent arms dealers losing out on vast fortunes, amassed from the misery caused by landmines. Plots and schemes abound but is there any evidence to support the allegations?

Conspiracy theorists speculate wildly, as they always do, that the Spencer family was in search of the Holy Grail and Diana was close to finding it and had to be killed to prevent her from becoming the most powerful person on earth. This is utter nonsense and serves no purpose other than distraction from the facts.

Others have come up with various murder plots, alleging that the seatbelts in the Mercedes S280 were tampered with to ensure the occupants were killed when the car crashed but bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones survived! Some say it was MI5 who killed her, others say it was MI6 and the French DST. But what is the truth?

And then there is the allegation that VX nerve gas was planted on Henri Paul by a mysterious lover working for French Intelligence. When the car entered the Alma Tunnel, the VX nerve gas, hidden in a pin on Henri Pauls lapel, was detonated by remote control, causing him to lose consciousness.

And equally interesting theories are circulated by the French and British authorities, desperate to bring the entire matter to an end. Their story is that Diana was killed as part of a series of random events which caused a terrible accident.

Certainly, there has been extensive suppression of the truth by the French and British authorities. Witnesses who saw the events immediately before and after the crash have been ignored and in the case of Eric Petel, threatened by French police to forget what he saw. By definition, accidents do not need to be covered up, so why ignore witnesses to the crash and threaten those who refuse to conform to the great accident theory?

In this web of intrigue and real and imagined conspiracies, lies flourish like wheat sheaves in the August sunshine, waiting to be cut down. This book uncovers the main culprits behind the lying game and their reasons for attempting to mislead millions of people desperate for the truth.

The various theories are tested and examined to see if they hold water, and the majority simply do not! But there are disturbing elements in the lying game that caused me to conduct this investigation to attempt to get at the truth or at the very least take the whole process one step closer to the truth. There is abundant evidence now available to prove that Princess Diana was under surveillance by American Intelligence and the surveillance product was shared with MI6 and the French DST. The question is why was Diana under surveillance in the first place?

Evidence has also been uncovered to prove that French photo agencies were having their communications intercepted in the hours leading up to the fatal crash. If intelligence agents were not involved in Dianas death, why were the photo agencies having their communications intercepted? Just 24 hours after the crash two photographers who received photos of the crash were raided in London, by mysterious burglars. Who were these burglars and what were they looking for?

The questions are replete with intrigue but answers can be found if one knows where to look. The Paget Investigation of Lord Stevens concluded with the French investigation that the crash was an accident but there is a whole lot more to this murky business than a simple accident. Indeed, most of the conspiracy theories are disproved with ease but there are occurrences for which there is hard evidence and they cannot be dismissed.

This book covers the last days of Dianas inimitable life and death through to dispatches from the Royal Courts of Justice in London, between December 2006 and August 2007 at the Inquest into her death. This is not a book for the faint-hearted, dont read it alone, this is the lying game and it is one of truly shocking historic proportions in the foremost unlawful killing of the last century.

Chapter 1 - Tell Me Yes

The much vaunted romance between Princess Diana and the Oscar winning playboy and film producer Dodi Fayed began in earnest, aboard his fathers yacht Jonikal, moored in the harbour at Cannes in the south of France, a haven for the super-rich and tax exiles.
