A chilling and detailed look into the mindset of mass murderers... - Gil Valle, author of Raw Deal: The Untold Story of NYPD's Cannibal Cop.

Ruined day trader Mark O. Barton describes to police where they can find the bodies of his wife and children.

Supreme Gentleman (and incel saint) Elliot Rodger muses about becoming the ruler of the world.

Adam Lanza, perpetrator of the Sandy Hook Massacre, imagines a horde of mewling babies has him trapped in a remote cabin.

Columbine killer Eric Harris keeps an extensive diary, detailing his rage against his schoolmates and the human race, his plans for the upcoming massacre, and his joy at acquiring new weapons.

Binghamton, New York mass murderer Jiverly Wong in broken English shares his delusions of persecution as a targeted individual stalked and harassed by the police.

Short stories. Blog and diary entries. Bizarre fantasies. Suicide notes. Lists of favorite movies and music. Threatening letters. Complaints. A one act play.

These are the writings of men and boys (they are all males) who have committed some of the worst peacetime massacres in the world.

Some of the writings are short, raising more questions than they answer. Some are long and compulsively detailed. Some are introspective and insightful. Some are strange and clearly the products of disturbed minds. One or two make little sense at all.

These writers are isolated, broken, lonely. Many of them are angry. Very, very angry. And they want to seek revenge on the people and society who wronged them.

You will be amazed, horrified, and fascinated. You may find the thoughts expressed uncomfortably similar to your own. You may dip into this book each day, entranced by nightmarish acts and deranged flights of fancy. You may stay up late at night, and read the whole thing in one sitting.

All of the writers committed, or attempted to commit, mass murder. All were either gunned down, captured, or killed themselves at the scene of their crimes.

In addition to the ones described above, the writers include:

Dylan Klebold, one half of the team that executed the Columbine Massacre, an event that has inspired other mass killers for over two decades;

Seung Cho, lone perpetrator of the Virginia Tech Massacre;

Richard Farley, who carried his obsession with a young female co-worker much too far;

And more than 20 others.

Check out these brief excerpts:

Women should not have the right to choose who to mate and breed with. That decision should be made for them by rational men of intelligence. If women continue to have rights, they will only hinder the advancement of the human race...
- Elliot Rodger

Films hold enormous power. I believe that costume dramas in particular are a good way to make white people proud of their history and physical beauty. I believe only the most beautiful people should be allowed to act. A beautiful person can make a mediocre film wonderful.
- Dylann Roof

There is nothing that any of you could have done to prevent this from happening; it was my destiny, and sometimes destiny is a bitch.
- Randy Stair

My interests include listening to music, watching movies, internet piracy. I mostly have uploaded porno, ebooks, things like that. That has been my only joy in life. I will leave a sign on my profile there for any who wish to see it. Check out what Ive uploaded. You may find our tastes are more similar than you realize.
- Christopher Harper Mercer

Greetings from the dead. You have received this letter after a rather horrendous event.
- Robert Flores

Introduction

Mass shooters usually want to get even.

The media and the society at large would likeyou to believe that mass shooters are evil. As is often the casewith mainstream thinking, the reality is quite a bit morecomplicated, and less appealing. The motivation for a mass killingis usually revenge.

It could be that serial killers are simplyevil. Your typical serial killer is a psychopath, who tries toappear outwardly normal, often with a great deal of success. Serialkillers usually have an itch theyre trying to scratch, some sortof dark desire, usually sexual, they need to fill.

Mass shooters are different. Far fromappearing normal, they are often loners and outcasts. Many werebullied as children and teenagers; school shooters in particularfit this bill. Almost every mass shooter has two very distinctcharacteristics. They are miserable and depressed enough to bewilling to die, and angry or paranoid enough that they blame othersfor their suffering, which for them has become unbearable.

This book is a collection of writings by massshooters. It includes diaries, blog entries, excuses, suicidenotes, shorts stories, screeds, explanations, and even a play.

Most mass shooters plot for days, months,even years before they lash out against the world that they feelhas hurt them so. In their warped minds, they have been wronged andthe only way to fix it is through a cataclysm of violence. Withthis one incredibly violent act towards others, and oftenthemselves, they will fix the years of injustices they have enduredin silence.

There are other types of mass shooters aswell. Some are terrorists. Some are motivated by fame, the desireto impress, to get attention. Others do it simply for thethrill.

Its hard to know for sure what themotivation was in every case. In large part, this is because manywind up dead, some without leaving a message behind.

Not so with the mass shooters in this book.Through their writings we get a glimpse of their thoughts about theworld, about what they did, and why they did it.

Its okay to be curious as to why thesepeople killed, to want to get into their minds. It doesnt make youa bad person to want to read the preoccupations, bizarre logic andviewpoints of mass shooters.

It does none of us any good to ignore mindslike these. Disregarding the actions and motivations of thesepeople does not make them go away.

The writings in this book have not beenedited, except for two reasons. One was to redact the names orpersonal information of certain individuals to protect theirprivacy, and the other, in the cases of Robert Flores and ValeryFabrikant, was for length.

Adam Lanza

On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza killed hismother by shooting her four times in the head as she slept in herbed. He then drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown,Connecticut, where he shot and killed 20 first-graders and sixeducators. Most of the killings occurred in two of the school'sfirst-grade classrooms; 14 students were murdered in one classroom,and six in another. Most of his victims were 6 or 7 years old.

Along with the Columbine killers, Lanza isarguably the most infamous school shooter in the world. Hestruggled with mental illness from an early age. He was obsessedwith violence and had become increasingly isolated before themurders. Some experts feel he had undiagnosed schizophrenia. Hecommitted suicide by shooting himself in the head when policearrived at the scene of his massacre.

The following is a short story written byLanza.

I am writing this more for my own comfortthan for anything - I do not want to feel the loneliness I do.Though it is ironic that I feel this loneliness when surrounded bypeople. People may not be an accurate description of thesecreatures, however. It is creatures such as these that have drivenme from my former life as a vagabond and into this abandoned shackwhich is now my sanctuary. They cannot enter, it appears, though Ihave not ascertained the reason. They indubitably know that I aminside, though. If I survive the night, I should be safe for thenext day. This infernal noise they emanate will have subsided andthey will have fled - they work in the darkness when we are mostsusceptible. Curse this mindless noise. It is all around thisshack. If they enter, I am not sure what I would do. I immediatelyclosed the latch on the door and fled upstairs and could not lookaround below, mostly owing to my lack of any source of light. It isa miracle I stumbled across this sanctuary. Upon stumbling up thestairs, I entered this room at the top of the steps. I fumbledaround and found this functioning lantern which gives me this hopeand simultaneously perhaps will be my downfall because thecreatures know exactly where I am. Perhaps I could use this lampagainst them if they manage to enter, but I do not believe theyfear light in the way some may assume. I pray that I live totomorrow - I may then have a chance. I am not sure what I will dofirst if I survive until tomorrow - I am not sure of anything. I amonly writing this to comfort myself in this situation, not as arecord of my activities but as a record of my emotions. Although Ishould think of the possible future. For now, I pray that they donot enter.

I managed to survive last night and now amwriting on the following night. Last night, as dawn approached, thecrawling gradually receded and I decided it would be appropriate(that is not the word I wanted) to sleep and regain my energy. Whatwas I thinking? I am now here awake at night when I could haveutilized that time while the sun was shining to strengthen mydefenses. Upon awakening, I decided that I would survey the damagethat the babies caused. I nervously stepped outside and immediatelynoticed how normal everything seemed. The babies made no attempt atentering. What were they doing crawling outside if not attemptingto enter? They clearly knew I was inside.

Elliot Rodger

Elliot Rodger killed 6 people as theperpetrator of the Isla Vista, California Massacre which occurredon May 23, 2014. His first three victims were Chinese exchangestudents - all young men, two of whom were his roommates. Hestabbed them to death at his apartment. The last three were killedwith a gun during a rampage in the town. 14 others were injured,either by gunshot or by Rodger hitting them with his car. He hassince become a hero to a segment of so-called incels -involuntary celibates - men who cannot find female sexual partners.He is known as The Supreme Gentleman and Saint Elliot in thosecircles.

Rodger was convinced his misery was causedby his lack of success with women. His massacre was to be his Dayof Retribution for what women had put him through over the courseof his life. He attempted to enter a sorority house in the hope ofkilling all the young women he found there, but the door waslocked. So he attacked random people he found on the streetsinstead. After Rodger was wounded by the police, he committedsuicide by shooting himself in the head.

The following is an excerpt from hisautobiography, My Twisted World.

The ultimate evil behind sexuality is thehuman female. They are the main instigators of sex. They controlwhich men get it and which men dont. Women are flawed creatures,and my mistreatment at their hands has made me realize this sadtruth.

There is something very twisted and wrongwith the way their brains are wired. They think like beasts, and intruth, they are beasts. Women are incapable of having morals orthinking rationally. They are completely controlled by theirdepraved emotions and vile sexual impulses. Because of this, themen who do get to experience the pleasures of sex and the privilegeof breeding are the men who women are sexually attracted to thestupid, degenerate, obnoxious men.
