WHATS YOUR MARK?
EVERY MOMENT COUNTS.
This book isnt meant merely to be consumed. Its meant to be digested. This isnt a book to celebrate the best in others as much as it is a book meant to call out the best in you.
Were on this journey together, noticing the passions in others that have changed this globe because of the Man who changed each of them: Jesus Christ. He is the ultimate mark on our planet, the ultimate mark on countless lives, and his hands and feet display the ultimate marks of sacrifice.
Each of the mark-makers featured in this book, from the superstars to the heroes to the everyday folks, have been marked by Christ and, in turn, they have marked the world. To spoil the ending, here is the truth: it doesnt matter who you are, how big your audience or your bank account, you can make a mark.
Have you? Do you want to? Are you just waiting for someone to say, You can do it?
You can do it. These people did. Jesus did. He is the example, the eternal Truth we love because he loved us first. We serve because he served first.
Hold this book near as you set out on your own world-marking adventure. As you identify that thing that only you can do, remind yourself of these faces, these stories, and know that your life matters. You are making a difference.
Every moment counts. Lets prove it.

TWITTER FOR GOOD
Because of the digital revolution that is going on all around us, we are each leaving marks that, for generations to come, will be searchable, google-able and viewable. No one is more aware of the need to make a positive impact in that world than Claire Diaz-Ortiz. Author of Twitter for Good: Change the World One Tweet at a Time and a senior executive at Twitter, Claire spends her days encouraging Twitter users to use the medium to help, to give and to connect.
Long before she was a top-ranking member of the Twitter staff, Claire joined the 140-character networking site while staying in an orphanage in Kenya as one of her last stops on a trip around the world in 2009. Claire was moved to stay on at the orphanage, doing whatever she could to help the orphans. And she used Twitter as a way to spread the news about the good work that the orphanage was accomplishing. Claires use of Twitter was also a way to connect with others interested in helping orphans and working to collect resources for the work. The orphanage was making a mark, and others needed to hear about it. Claire has since begun a nonprofit organization, Hope Runs, that benefits AIDS orphans in the same region.
Passionate about development and education, Claire works to train and equip Twitter users, particularly churches, church leaders and nonprofit organizations, who are eager to connect with their audiences. When someone begins on Twitter, I tell them one thing: Ask yourself, Who can I help? Claire can teach others this truth because she lives this truth.
Claire holds an MBA from Oxford University, where she was a Skoll Foundation Scholar for Social Entrepreneurship. She also has a BA and MA in anthropology from Stanford University. With over 300,000 followers, many of whom she connects with and responds to, Claire is also a blogger, author and international speaker while maintaining her role of leading social innovation at Twitter. Reading her feed, one can see that she cares about connecting with her followers, educating them and helping othersshe is making a mark, in her own way, on the social media world.
Unlike other social media outlets, Twitter is built to intrinsically help users make a mark. Twitter is about creating and cultivating new relationships, Claire says. We should always be thinking about how to widen our nets. Whether it is replying to a celebrity or meeting others who have similar interests in a Twitter chat, you are capable, every time you write those 140 characters, to affect those who follow you.
WHATS YOUR MARK?
HOW ARE YOU USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO MAKE A POSITIVE MARK ON THE WORLD?
Claires foster son, Sammy, whom she met while living in the orphanage in Kenya, recently graduated from high school in the US and is now serving in Ecuador with the Global Citizen Year program before returning to the US for college.

THE TIME HAS COME, HE SAID. THE KINGDOM OF GOD HAS COME NEAR. REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOOD NEWS!
MARK 1:15
CHAPTER 1 [MARK 1:1]
John the Baptist Prepares the Way
The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, a the Son of God, b 2 as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way c
3 a voice of one calling in the wilderness, Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.d
4 And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6 John wore clothing made of camels hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7 And this was his message: After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I baptize you with e water, but he will baptize you with e the Holy Spirit.
The Baptism and Testing of Jesus
9 At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.
12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, 13 and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted f by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
Jesus Announces the Good News
14 After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 The time has come, he said. The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!
