Eye

Make 2.

Rnd 1 (RS): Leaving long beg tail, make a slip ring, ch 1, 6 sc in ring, join in first sc. Pull gently on beg tail to close sts. (6 sc)

Row 2: Now working in rows, ch 2(see Pattern Notes), hdc in base of beg ch-2, 2 hdc in each of next 3 sc, leave rem sts unworked, turn. (8 hdc)

Row 3: Ch 3(see Pattern Notes), dc in base of beg ch-3, 2 dc in each st across. Leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off. (16 dc)

Finishing

Referring to photo, position each Eye with bottom edges at 45-degree angle from top edge of Basket and corner of last row slightly below point of picot. Leave approximately inch between lower corners.

Thread beg tail on needle. Working from back to front through center of rnd 1 and then from front to back between rnds 1 and 2, sew over each st of rnd 1 through both thicknesses.

With end tail, sew outer edge of Eye to Basket.

Beak
