ABOUT THE AUTHOR
This was supposed to be a little summer project back in 1968a modest handbook of orchestral repertoire. In the intervening 37 years, it has insidiously taken over David Daniels life.

In between times, however, he taught at Oakland University in Michigan for 28 years and directed several orchestras. He is still music director of the Warren Symphony, also in Michigan, and has guest conducted in Detroit, Boston, Illinois, Michigan, South Carolina, and Venezuela. He received an A.B. degree from Oberlin College, an M.A. in musicology from Boston University, and both an M.F.A. in orchestral literature and conducting from the University of lowa.

Works within the larger categories are subdivided by duration. If solo voices are also required, these are given in parentheses. Works that fit in more than one category are repeated as appropriate. Within each category or subdivision, works are listed in chronological order according to the composers birth date. This will make it possible for you to go immediately to the correct part of the list if you happen to be looking for something from a particular style-period (baroque, for example, or contemporary).
