Are you ready? Then lets giddy up! DANIELLE AND DAISY I cant remember a time when I didnt love horses. I was that horse-crazy girl who spent summers on horseback, falling in love over and over with these beautiful creatures. So when I started to take an interest in photography, it was natural for me to be drawn to capturing the deep bonds we share with these animals. This 2005 photo of Danielle and her horse Daisy was one of the first images I created that truly conveyed the emotions I had felt when spending time with horses. It set me on a path in my photography that I am still on to this dayto photograph the immeasurable bond we share with horses. LYNDSAY AND TEDDY I was photographing Lyndsay with her beautiful paint horse Teddy when a car drove down a dirt road behind these trees, creating a cloud of dust that was illuminated by the late day sun as it shone through the trees.
Suddenly, breathtaking rays of light filled the air above them! ANYA AND MR. WONDERFUL I was photographing Anya with her Friesian horse, Mr. Wonderful, when all of a sudden a bird flew in and landed on his neck! He acted like this was completely normal, while Anya and I laughed and laughed. LENNA AND LOUIE Louie was Lennas first pony and first love. This was her goodbye photo as she moved up to a full-sized horse and passed Louie on to her younger cousins to teach another generation what it is to love horses. WITHOUT BOUNDARIES I have been seeking out riders who represent racial diversity in equestrianism.
Through these photos, I want to represent and celebrate those who do not fit the typical ethnic profile of an equestrian, and hopefully inspire others to believe that enjoying horses has no boundaries. In diversity there is beauty and there is strength. Maya Angelou A SHARED PASSION Katja is passing her love of horses down to her daughter. The two spend many hours together caring for their horses, taking them to clinics and lessons, and competing in shows. JEN AND SAINT This image of Jen and Saint strikes me because the way the sun is shining between them beautifully depicts how it feels to be close to a horse.
