I was that horse-crazy girl who spent summers on horseback, falling in love over and over with these beautiful creatures. So when I started to take an interest in photography, it was natural for me to be drawn to capturing the deep bonds we share with these animals. This 2005 photo of Danielle and her horse Daisy was one of the first images I created that truly conveyed the emotions I had felt when spending time with horses. It set me on a path in my photography that I am still on to this dayto photograph the immeasurable bond we share with horses. Through these photos, I want to represent and celebrate those who do not fit the typical ethnic profile of an equestrian, and hopefully inspire others to believe that enjoying horses has no boundaries. In diversity there is beauty and there is strength.
