Over the past few years Hekate has gained increasing popularity around the world. While there are books written about the historical Hekate, there is a lack of information applying this knowledge for personal development and practicing witchcraft. Keeping Her Keys blends the keys of personal development, magick and the ancient goddess, Hekate, together. Topics include the power of prayer, how to create sacred space, and guidance on spell crafting. In the final chapter readers can perform an optional self-initiation to become a Keeper of Her Keys.

A Witchs Prayer to Hekate

Mighty Hekate, Queen of the Witches,

Blessed am I,

To call myself one of your chosen.

Mighty Hekate, Queen of the Witches,

You are both the dark and the light.

You are the way,

And You are the light along it.

My Queen, Holder of the keys of all creation.

Mighty Hekate, Queen of the Witches,

I stand before you in this liminal space,

That you created for us alone.

Here in this place of the in-between,

I feel the energy of the worlds,

I see the vision of the future,

I hold the wisdom of the past.

Mighty Hekate, Queen of the Witches,

You have bestowed upon me the power of the Witch.

Through the gifts of Your sacred keys,

I am the walker between the worlds,

The spinner of the web of fate,

The knower of Your secrets,

The student of Your mysteries,

The giver of Your healing.

Mighty Hekate, Queen of the Witches,

My journey is a blessed one,

Each key you give me unlocks great power,

Grateful I am for all Your keys;

The key of acceptance for that which I cannot change,

The key of courage to overcome adversity,

The key of kindness for myself and others,

They key of pain through which I discover my own strength,

The key of suffering in which I found healing,

The key of peace that brings me contentment,

The key of wisdom so that I may live a life of truth.

Mighty Hekate, Queen of the Witches,

My witchs journey is a blessing,

Through the darkness of the Under World,

Up to the heights of the heavens,

And the balance of everyday life.

Through all situations, I honor You.

In all ways, I honor You.

For all of time, Eternal Queen, I honor You.

Introduction

In October 2017, I started writing about what I call Modern Hekatean Witchcraft thats a combination of Hekate and Applied Modern Witchcraft. Modern Hekatean Witchcraft is all about Hekate, practicing witchcraft, and personal development work. In my blog, Keeping Her Keys, I offered how-to-if-you-want-to articles about creating sacred space, using Hekates many epithets, devotional practices, and Hekatean focused witchery. The blog grew quickly as did the Facebook page associated with it. I had just wanted to write about my own perspective as a devotee of Hekate, witch, mom, survivor, etc., but what I was saying resonated with lots of people. I see myself as a voice of the Modern Hekatean Witchcraft movement. Were all in this together. People kept asking me where my book was, so I thought it best to write one. Keeping Her Keys: An Introduction to Modern Hekatean Witchcraft is that book.

Keeping Her Keys Your Way

The structure of this course is flexible. One of the central tenets of my take on Modern Hekatean Witchcraft is a you do you approach. I wrote this book to provide guidance and information for all of you Keepers. I wrote the book I wanted to read.

Modern Hekatean Witchcraft

This book is an introductory course about Modern Hekatean Witchcraft. This isnt a tradition and you wont be asked to join a coven or other form of religious organization. Youll learn by reading the content, exploring different concepts and practice techniques and methods for developing in all these areas. At the end of the course, you can become a Keeper of Her Keys through self-initiation. You can become a Priest or Priestess of your own temple if that works for you. Once you complete self-initiation youll be referred to as a Guide in the Keeping Her Keys community and you will be able to mentor students taking this course. Lesson Two describes the Keeping Her Keys framework in detail.
