Mystic Secrets Revealed was written over the course of six years, during which time I traveled extensively throughout North America, South America and Asia, and interacted with thousands of people. Many contributed greatly by setting the stage upon which the various mystic principles revealed themselves, both at work and at play.

Many of us become so wrapped up in our careers, relationships and other day-to-day affairs, that we forget what is most important to our overall well-being. We fail to remember the popular adage, We are spiritual beings living a human existence. The trials and tribulations of the physical world are intended to stimulate us to evolve our consciousness, connect with our innermost self, and ultimately achieve mastery. The expression of the unique gifts we each discover to be our own inevitably leads us to peace and joy. This is the true mission of our soul.

I, too, found myself guilty of this oversight. In my case, I had started several new companies, each of which was regularly beset with crises that consumed all my energy and attention. When things would go well, I had no time. When things went poorly, I had no money. At one point, I was flat broke, without a car, being evicted from my apartment, my girlfriend breaking up with me, and my company going out of business. This dramatic fluctuation in my fortunes forced me to contemplate, Whats the point?

Following my intuition, I began to studyboth in books and with advanced spiritual teachersthe timeless, universal principles that manifest all reality. After developing a solid understanding of these principles, I wrote my first book, a novel, Mystic Warrior, which described a world where selfless mystics were using advanced spiritual skills to influence world events and prevent a nuclear catastrophe.

Many of my reflections found their way into my monthly Mystic Warrior Newsletter, which eventually became the basis for Mystic Secrets Revealed.

Back in the Middle Ages, alchemists sought to transform base metal into gold. They searched for an elusive substance, the philosophers stone, which would bring about this conversion or transformation, known as alchemy. But to initiates of the ancient mystery schools, alchemy was primarily an allegory for the real work of spiritual and mental alchemy.

Spiritual alchemy is the process of transforming a less evolved soul personality into a more refined one. Just as a caterpillar can transform into a butterfly, a person struggling through their earthly existence can transform into one who lives in enlightenment, illumination, pure Being, or oneness with the Divine. Spiritual alchemy takes one from a life lived in ignorance, attachment and suffering to a life lived in transcendent knowledge, freedom and bliss.

The founders of all major religions have attempted to expedite this transformation by providing rules or methods to help people achieve this realized state, and to lead happier and more productive lives. Mystics from all traditions, as well, have studied the universal laws to speed up this process, which many believe occurs over numerous lifetimes.

Mental alchemy involves the replacement of beliefs that are hindering your development with positive ones that will help you. You might say that sounds straightforwardwhy would this be so difficult?

It turns out that its extremely difficult to change beliefs. There are three reasons for this:

1) Most people mistake their beliefs for the truth. Even if its not in their best interest, some people resign themselves to their fate, because they mistakenly accept a belief as true, and therefore fixed.

2) Beliefs operate at the subconscious level. Most people are unaware of their subconscious beliefs, which are often in conflict with their conscious thoughts. For example, a woman may consciously be seeking to manifest a healthy love relationship, but subconsciously she may feel that shes unworthy. Unless her belief is made conscious and transmuted, it will continue to sabotage her efforts. (This will be covered in chapter 3, How to Identify Unconscious Beliefs.)

3) You see what you believe. Less than 100 years ago, physicists were trying to determine whether light was a wave or a particle. They discovered that the answer depended on what you believed you would find. If you believed light was made of particles, then you could design an experiment that proved it. Conversely, if you believed light consisted of waves, then you could design another experiment to prove that.
