Introduction

Thank you for choosing this book, which will change your life just as palmistry has changed mine. Its not only a book about the magic of palms, its also a book about energy, focus and the wisdom in your hands. I tell my students that every line or mark has a positive message in it, just like every experience in life has a gift and message for us. How you perceive little bumps along the way will determine how you roll along your lifes path: you can choose to be a victim or you can choose to be a creator. The lines and marks on your palms can change just as your thoughts and beliefs do. Every cell and every line on the palm is part of your essence, part of who you are.

Palmistry, or chiromancy as it is also known, is from the Greek word kheir meaning hand and manteia meaning divination, which means foretelling the future through the study of the palm. Palm reading is also known as chirology. Those who practise chiromancy are generally called palmists, palm readers, hand readers, hand analysts or orchirologists.

Palmistry is the practice of reading the lines and markings on the palm of the hand. The study of palms began in ancient India and spread to other parts of the world: the Egyptians and Greeks began practising palmistry over 5,000 years ago, then in the 17th century the foundations into the techniques of palmistry were more fully laid. Palm reading was revived in the 19th century when mystics began using its divination practices. In the 20th century psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Jung was impressed by palmistry as he felt it was an amazing skill that used facts along with intuition and insight; he had his palms read several times.

The book covers a comprehensive list of topics that will provide you with the knowledge and skills to proficiently and expertly perform palmistry readings, topics such as timing, scrying, hand reflexology and meridians and the unusual lines you will come across in your search to unravel the mysteries of the palm. I have also included chakras and psychic senses in the book, along with information on performing a palmistry reading that has helped me read palms at fairs, at my home practice and in the courses I teach. To be a fabulous palm reader you need to be in tune psychically and energetically; therefore, I have included exercises in this book to help you tap into guides, higher intuition and the energy of the palm. At the end of the book are some examples of palm readings for you as well as a checklist to help you identify the markings on the palm.

Many former students who are now professionally reading palms have given me great feedback about how this information has helped them to master palmistry. I wish I had been able to find a book like this many moons ago, before my years of reading palms and teaching palmistry. I have read many books on palmistry over the years and I still find it an enthralling subject and 30 years ago when I was in my mid 20s I delightfully read the palms of family members and friends. My understanding of palmistry, spirituality and energy has developed considerably, so it is pure joy for me to share these insights with you.

My students are often amazed at how different palmistry books believe different things about palmistry. I suggest you experiment and see what feels right for you and what style of palmistry works for you, as in the end you will be the person who is performing the reading. Your own intuition and perceptions will guide you to identify what the fingers and palms represent for you and your client. Calling on your clients spirit guide, as well as your own, to help interpret the palm is a powerful way to get an accurate reading.

Reading the palm is a journey that goes beyond the conscious mind. When you trek into your subconscious world, where symbols and messages dwell, you will find your readings become alive and you will become a more powerful reader. If you are reading this book I predict that you are a naturally inquisitive, intuitive and curious person; its likely that you look beneath the surface of situations, that you like to see beyond whats presented to you and enjoy digging deeper into it.

We were all born with exquisite hands, and you owe it to yourself to understand the lines and shapes of your hands. Chapter 1

The hands

Palm reading, or palmistry, is an ancient art of fortune telling that the Chinese are believed to have begun using 5,000 years ago. The science of palmistry was also studied by the Romans, Greeks, Indians and Egyptians.

Palm reading consists of observing the lines of the palm and other features on the hands. Chiromancy means reading the palms and interpreting the lines on the palm. Looking at a persons palm can unveil a detailed picture of their life and how they relate to the world around them. Palmistry can reveal how a person will interact with others in love, work and play.
