CONTENTS
Look down at your hands. You may not realize it but every aspect of your being is reflected there: your talents, character, strengths, weaknesses are all displayed, as well as all major events still to come in your life. All you need to know about yourself is literally at your fingertips. And, once you have read this book, all you want to know about other people will be there on their palms ready for you to read with your newfound skills.
Through the centuries there have been doubts and suspicions about palmistry this most harmless of divining arts but now it is recognized as a valuable means of self-discovery and an accurate method of reading a persons character and destiny. Some people have dismissed the lines on a palm as merely creases, but the fact is there are many more lines present than the movement of your hands and fingers would be able to cause.
What palmistry can tell us
Many people automatically assume that palmistry is just about the lines on the hands. But the hand as a whole the overall shape, including the fingers, nails and joints is just as important because it reveals character. Together, the shape and size of the palm and the lines marked on it show habits, actions and past, present and future events.
The hands are a barometer of health. They can show when ones health is below par before an actual illness takes hold and manifests in the rest of the body, thus allowing preventative measures to be taken. The Line of Life is particularly relevant to health matters, but many other lines and features also have much to say. People often mistakenly believe that the Line of Life is the sole indicator of longevity. Although this line reveals much about health, the Line of Fate too is relevant to life expectancy and other future influences.
We all want to be loved. Love is the nucleus of all our emotions and we all need to give and receive it. The complexities of human relationships, however, make affairs of the heart the most difficult aspect of life for many of us. Your hands can show the sort of relationships you have experienced and those you may anticipate. They can reveal how an existing partnership or love affair is likely to develop. Children, or potential children, are also shown on the lines of the palm, but do not always refer to actual offspring: these lines can signify the birth of ideas, such as when two people come together in a creative meeting of minds.
Reading another persons hands
To study palmistry, all you need is this book and some hands to explore. When carrying out a reading for someone else, however, there are a few guidelines to follow. Firstly, make sure that you are both comfortably seated and as relaxed as possible. Sit beside each other, so that the hands are upright when you are examining them, like most of the examples illustrated in this book. Good lighting is essential. A lamp that shines on to the hands and doesnt glare into your faces is best. Some people have very fine lines, so a magnifying glass is often useful. And bear in mind that a modus operandi or a sequential way of going about your reading is a good approach.
You will find that some people are a little shy about having their hands touched and held, especially by someone of the opposite sex. You will need to touch the hand in the initial part of your reading to find out how flexible and springy it is, but thereafter, in such instances, it can be a good idea to use a pencil to track and point out the various lines on the hand. Never insist on reading the palms of someone who clearly does not want to be scrutinized in this way. And remember that when reading anothers hands, it is important to relate what you see there objectively never in a judgemental way. We all differ in our attitudes to our lifestyles, after all.
How to use this book
This book covers many aspects of character and lifes events that are familiar to most of us. You will find much that links in with your own experiences, or those of people you know, and every page has something new and interesting for you to learn. I have devised this book in a special way for those who have never studied the art before. It is also a useful guide for those who have attempted to learn how to read hands but have found other books written on this most fascinating subject difficult to understand. The most challenging aspect of learning palmistry can be in identifying the different lines on the palm, so I have created a colour key to enable the novice to locate the lines with ease and confidence. From my experiences as a palmist, I have found that there are certain questions I am asked time and time again. Each chapter deals with the lines of an important area of life, like work, talent, love and health. At the end of each chapter, there is a special question-and-answer section, which covers many of the key issues in our lives. Like the colour code, it will help to teach you in a quick and informative way.
To prepare yourself to learn about the lines on the palm, I suggest you read with the shape, size and appearance of the hands and fingers, important aspects that reveal the basic personality. You will then be able to read whichever section of the book interests you most, but be sure to work through the whole book, as each part includes something different that may apply to your life.
For those of you who have already learned a little about palmistry, this book will further your knowledge readily; and if you have never approached the subject before, the following pages will open up a new world for you, deepening your understanding of yourself and others.
KEY TO LINES
For quick-and-easy reference to the line colours, use the handy key card provided.
Your unique and individual character is mirrored on your hands. Imagine the hands as a canvas, the lines and features upon them as the paint that colours all the hues and tones of your personality and predispositions. The picture, however, is likely to change in time.
