The novels murder mystery is intriguing and grows more complex as its supernatural elements are unveiled.
Kirkus Reviews
By centering her supernatural world on the concept of belief, Tansley gives her story a complex and unusual framework, and having the formerly possessed Kat become a possessor herself, as she inhabits another womans body while in the past, puts a neat spin on conventional ghost story motifs.

To Dr. L. John Greenfield, Dr. Daniel Roberts, and Carol Mierzwa for helping me regain my balance and giving me back my life.
CHAPTER ONE
Morgan was at it again.
From my desk, I could hear things thudding against the floor and rolling across the bathroom tiles. Seemed like whenever I needed quiet, she was causing a ruckus.
Take this particular Tuesday evening. I had a psych essay due the next morning, and I was struggling to get it done. Was this seriously the only time she could be reorganizing the bathroom cabinet?
Something clattered against the toilet. I sighed, dreading the next explosion of noise. When it didnt come, I tried to refocus. Id been on the same sentence for the last five minutes. At this rate, Id never finish this essay.
Were almost out of toilet paper, Morgan shouted.
With the bathroom door open, her voice carried across the dorm room and smacked me in the eardrum. Her tone made it clear that this wasnt the first time shed reminded me, and she was sick of it.
So was I. Didnt she realize I was in the middle of an essay explaining how culture and gender influence emotional interpretation and expression? I ignored her and stared at my screen, trying to concentrate on a paragraph comparing smiling in Japan versus America.
Sure, it was my turn to stock the bathroom basics. But things had been a little crazy with the race to strengthen my spellcasting before the Dark One tried to kill me. I also had three AP classes that I desperately wanted to do well in this term, which was why I was at my desk hunkered down in front of my keyboard instead of training at Dumbarton right now. I might have to let a few things slip around here. Couldnt she understand that?
