Introduction
Speak your truths and let your heart beheard, for even disaster is beautiful when it is pure. Becca Lee I hope that the collection of poems in thisbook will echo through time, serving as a simple guide andreflection about love and life.
I hope that it embraces thedifferent fragments of life and harnesses the pattern of silence asa vehicle to compose the elements of poetry concerning love andlife. This book emanated from an event that lasted three hours atthe V & A Waterfront, Cape Town. Silence has vitality that is often not seenby many. Silence has the power to get people to deliberate and toact. Silence has the ability to bring out the hidden truthconcerning a matter. Often silence can be a time forself-examination, and when we examine ourselves we allow ourselvesto speak the truth.
In this book I have translated the song in myheart and vision in my life and hope these poems will bememorable and rewarding for the reader. The poems in this book are meant to beenjoyed, used for guidance and motivational support in almost anyfacet of life. They can also be used for poetry lessons, and canserve as a guide on how to write poetry, and how to speak insilence about an issue in your heart. Some poems will echo adiscussion, and to help get this going, feature a summary. Theywill also allow readers and perhaps teachers to share their ownthought patterns and questions which will give them the opportunityto maximise their level of curiosity and impose their own level ofdiscussion. The poems contribute to major themes inhuman life: Love, Purpose, Vision, Difficulty, Identity, Compassionand the closed elements of life (what a person suffers in silence).I have divided the poems and presented them under themes, and undereach theme there are also sub-themes which add a level of awarenessas to the heart of the poet.
There are three themes: Theme One Loves Past, Present andFuture Theme Two From the Past to the Present forthe Future Theme Three The Butterfly PrincipleBringing Changes for the Future Some of these poems were written in Japan,Thailand, England and South Africa. Certain poems follow a simpleformat: Poem, quote, summary and the lesson drawn from thepoem. Theme One deals predominantly with one lady.It is GREAT to LOVE ONE WOMAN. As one sifts through the poetry thename of the lady becomes clear, with the message intensifying themore you progress through the book. The messages in these poems arenot mere principles. I have lived them, which is why I can speakfrom a personal perspective and transparent reality.
In principal,I dont have it all together, and many times I had to learn thehard way in life. Theme One also echoes some elements ofWilliam Shakespeares dark lady theme. However, the poem My love for you wasnot about the bedroom rectifies that mistaken element in this book. Embeddedwithin Theme One there is also an element of John Keats writing.Furthermore, the poetry within these pages also reflects deeperaspects of the simplicity of love and from the readings of otherpoets like Samuel Daniels (1563-1619), Lord Byron (1788-1824), E.E. Cummings (1894-1962), Christina Rossetti (1830-1894), W.B. S. S.
Elliot(1888-1965). The readings of South African poets Oswald Mtshali andRoy Campbell, helped with the aspect of simplicity in some of mypoems. Theme Two brings out the element of whatmost (if not all) individuals will face an element of darkness intheir lives. The motivational poems in this theme are not thoughtout poems for the sake of writing. I have lived through each one. What is significant is the fact that whatever one human will gothrough, there are many others who will go through the exact samething which is why Theme Two can add value to many otherindividuals lives. Theme Three ends with the realisation thatwe have to move on in life.
Yes, it is not easy, but time waits forno one. Hence the reason for ending the book with a mostsignificant poem. December 26, 2016

Your life was built out of the heavens The gardens of tomorrow declare yourbeauty The wonder of your smile Demonstrates that you are the most perfectjewel The woman of tomorrow lifts the sky Colour and beauty never say goodbye It burns with happiness under a watchfulsky Haseena is the 8th wonder of the world. Summary Joy in looking and comprehending is naturesmost beautiful gift.
Albert Einstein The poem is about beauty at its highestlevel. The poet found great joy in standing opposite thedistinguished lady and just marvelling at her beauty. As the cloudsslowly glide across the beautiful blue sky at the Waterfront, thewarm rays of the sun melt upon her golden face creating abreathtaking sight. Identical to a perfectly painted landscape, this woman of beauty echoes a glow, a vibrant shade of black andwhite. A cool, heavy breeze lingers the curdlingsmell of her perfume. The display of flowers surrounding the bay, shimmer like silver glitter under both the sun and pale moonlight. Her strong essence can be inhaled no matter what other beauty isattached to her side.
The deep imprints of her delicate lips arevisible, firmly marked into the soft skin of a princess. As a flockof birds flutter over the horizon, the poet is reminded of howabsolutely amazing this woman of beauty is and finds that lookingat her is soothing and refreshing. For the poet she is the 8thwonder of the world. Lesson Beauty on the outside does not last forever,so appreciate it while it is still around. Silence Only Makes it Louder Paralysed by the elegance of love I froze for a moment subjugated by truth A love so unexpected yet growing daily! One life, one love, one moment that changedit all. Intrigued by the possibility of an imaginaryworld She was long time a resident in my heart The elegant fragrance of her soul Penetrated deep into loves nest I became a scholar of her heart Studying every frail as I understood thewords Silence only makes it louder.
