It is intuitive and resonates with me the most. It connects me to the source and I feel the food at heart. My body feels Mother Earth and receives her love as nourishment.
It creates positive effects on me, not only physically but psychologically and spiritually as well. I believe it is a beautiful way of living: being harmonious with the nature and enhancing your full potential. By eating consciously, you learn so much; about yourself, about your relationship with others, your surroundings and, of course, the food which becomes a part of you. You become aware that food you choose, and the very act of eating is a reflection of who you are. Just like a daily yoga practice, you take responsibility for what happens within you. By incorporating raw food, you learn to minimize the damage done to other sentient beings and the environment, and to coexist with all living beings and the earth in a sustainable, compassionate way.
We eat three times a day every single day. When the food doesnt digest properly, it will stagnate in the body in the form of toxins. These toxins, described as lifestyle-related diseases are the cause of allergies and chronic fatigue and can also affect your mental state. In addition to the food you eat, daily life stress, past trauma and mental states such as hurt, hatred and jealous also stagnate in the body and manifest as disease. Raw food helps to purify the body and mind. By eating healthy, fresh whole foods, accumulated waste in the body gets eliminated, letting go of junk that doesnt serve you.
When the body and mind are free from unwanted stuff, you become physically and mentally lighter. It is easier to attract new energy, and you will be guided towards a positive and higher vibrational path. There might be physical or mental discomfort in the process of detoxification. This is because the toxins stored in the body starts moving in order to be excreted and is a totally natural part of the process. There will always be a reaction, just as the body can ache after yoga asana practice for the first time. It is what it is.
Just observe it and experience how the food affects you and how your feelings affect your diet. There is no need to be 100% raw. What is important is to listen to yourself and to be truthful to yourself. By incorporating raw food into your diet, little by little and at your own pace, you will experience many changes and gain new awareness. Experience enriches our life, maximizes our potential and takes us to the next level of spirituality. Experience: that is what we want! Take advantage of raw food as a tool to get in touch with your core and with the greatness of all life in order to make positive changes not only within us, but on the earth and for the future as well! Be open and remember that the best nutrition is love and positive energy.
Not only is nutrition found in food. How much love has been put in it, how you feel when you eat and who you share it, are all important elements that feed our hearts and spirits. So go ahead and start sharing some of the recipes here with your friends, family and loved ones! My Raw Food Journey From an early age, I loved making and eating sweets and tried out all the recipes in the dessert book. At some point, I started getting into healthy dessert, so that I could keep eating them everyday:) I experimented with tofu dessert, non-sugar sweets and cheeseless cheese cake, etc. My enthusiasm towards healthy eating then, quite naturally lead me to this lifestyle choice, both personally and professionally. I established my basic foundation of vegan cuisine while cooking at vegan caf called Pure Cafe in Tokyo.
When I discovered the Natural Hygiene Diet, a lot of things added up in my mind. The way I was eating and the food choices I was naturally making with ambiguous awareness made sense. I also studied Macrobiotics, a diet which promotes self-healing by balancing the yin and yang aspects of nature and incorporates this into the traditional Japanese diet, at the Lima Cooking School in Tokyo. This, along with my self-studied plant-based nutrition philosophy, was eye-opening, to say the least. I also started practicing yoga, and that was the beginning of my whole journey. I traveled to India, Bali, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand looking for yoga and the opportunity to cook for people.
Along the way, the people I met introduced me to raw food. Some of them made nori rolls with avocado, cashew sauce and sprouts (no rice!), and it was exactly the same way I used to make it! I discovered I had been intuitively living the raw food lifestyle before I even knew the name for it and started learning it! After traveling for a year, I cooked for yogis and guests at Purple Valley Yoga Retreat Centre in Goa, India for over five years. I initially cooked vegan and vegetarian meals, but from the requests of the guests as well as my own interest in the subject, my focus shifted more towards raw food. As the percentage of raw food on the menu increased, I started to become known as a raw food chef. During Purple Valleys off-season, I traveled to Bali, Australia and the United States to learn more. I assisted raw food chefs in Bali, worked at a raw food cafe called Samudra in Australia, learned at Matthew Kenny Academy, work-experienced at the rejuvenation center called Tree of Life, and gradually established my career as raw food chef.
