Dedication
To our photographic mentorsthe sharing, caring, knowledge
able individuals who help novice photographers become more pro
ficient in the profession.
This book is dedicated to the late Clarence H. White, Jr., instruc
tor, friend, and mentor. As an instructor at Ohio University in the
1950s, Clarence was an inspiration to all of his many photography
students. He taught us to use photography creatively as a means of
communication in a visually oriented world. His sage advice and
guidance shaped students into true professionals, ready for any
facet of photography they would pursue in later years.
