Congratulations to Pamela on launching Nourished , It is always an honor to connect with similar pioneers in the plant-based community and I am especially proud of our alumni who are doing wonderful work to improve global health. Nourished explores the relationship between the foods we consume and the way we feel. This concept was instrumental in my transition to a fully plant-based diet and lifestyle. These topics inspire and challenge readers to become more conscious about their choices and ultimately support our main goal of reducing animal consumption around the world.

My personal journey into holistic living began 11 years ago with an E3 live blue-green algae shot and a yoga instructor named Fred Busch on Miami Beach. From that day forward, my life was headed down a new path. Living consciously and holistically has changed my life in every single facetliterally. Most of my life I struggled with obesity and diabetes and was living a completely different lifestyle with a mindset quite different than the one from today. It was not until I adopted this new lifestyle, incorporating many modalities of health and healing, that I truly found happiness and comfort in my own mind body and spirit.

The change an evolution was on a cellular level. After experiencing this in my own life, I knew in my heart I needed to bring it to others by offering our community a center for holistic transformation. This is why I created The Sacred Space Miami.

The Sacred Space is an oasis in the heart of the city of Miami offering many modalities of healing and education. Our campus includes Plant Food + Wine and Matthew Kenney Culinary; the citys first and only classically structured plant-based culinary academy. The restaurant and culinary institute are an integral part of The Sacred Space Miami, aligning perfectly with the larger mission: combining health, education and community.

Whether having a plant-based meal with friends at Plant Food + Wine, or attending a Shamanic Journey or transformational workshop, The Sacred Space is truly a center for integrated experiences. Furthermore, the space is a reflection of my personal belief system and the holistic way in which I live my life.

This mindset of a holistic life is tied to being a mindful person. Mindfulness is vigilant awareness of being in the present moment. So often we live in the past and future and that can be terribly dangerous. Ask yourself this, do you know what exists there? What do you imagine lives in the past and in the present? For many, it is suffering.

Being aware is living in the moment, and thats the only place that exists. Its really about savoring the present momentthe Now.

And thats where Pamela comes in. Pamela is one of the most mindful and present human beings I have ever come across. I met Pamela when she came to support the Plant Food + Wine culinary team during the South Beach Food and Wine Festival dinner at The Sacred Space. The moment I met her I sensed her passion, deep understanding and enthusiasm around her craft.

She worked with Jugo Fresh R&D kitchen pop-up, and was involved with the pioneers in the conscious and plant-based scene in the city. Pamela now actively teaches workshops at The Sacred Space Miami and also has led a Conscious Bite Out dinner in our space.

Not only was I hearing about her belief system and the fabulous work she was doingI witnessed and experienced it firsthand. We were continuously seeing each other through our shared passion for holistic living, and our relationship evolved into one where I entrusted her expertise and sought out her advice explicitly as my in-house chef.

I had such faith in Pamela from the moment we started working together, and shealong with her beautiful helper daughter, Violettabegan delivering weekly meals for my family. The best part about having Pamelas food delivered daily (asides from the convenience) was knowing every aspect was holistically prepared, and all ingredients were plant-based and healthy. People often think plant-based food means lacks flavor or some part of the experience is sacrificed. Pamela continuously impressed me with the crafting of unbelievably complex and satiating plant-based food to the point I would call some dishes comfort food!

On top of that, everything was created with a lot of integrity and blessingsI could sense the love and commitment put into every dish, with every bite. That love behind her skills are only the beginning. As youll see as you turn the page, Pamela is more than a chef. Shes a mother, giver and a teacher. She is not only passionate about her craft, she is passion. The way she treats her body and nourishes it, should be an example for us all. She believes in her philosophies and lives her life in alignment. Not only is she naturally attuned towards holistic living, she is also so well educated and possesses the credentials to back it. Her knowledge transcends beyond being a plant-based chef, and delves into areas of holistic nutrition and the psychology of eating. Its incredibly inspiring seeing how she lives her life with such integrity, balance and harmony with plant-based living and nature.
