ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I have been digitizing embroidery designs for almost nine years and quilting for as long as I can remember. As I grew up, I quilted less and less because it proved to be time consuming; it seemed I never could get a project finished.
When I became pregnant with my daughter, I picked it up again and thats about the time I began digitizing. When I discovered that I could digitize a quilt block, I nearly fell off my chair. It was such a wild and fulfilling experience! I finally found a faster way to make a nearly perfect quilt. I added the block designs to my Web site (www.pieceinthehoop.com), which I developed from the ground up, and they took off. Theres nothing like instant gratification projects to keep stitchers coming back for more! What once was a hobby for me has turned out to be a lucrative home-based business that just keeps growing. Acknowledgments I would like to thank the following people for their encouragement and support: My CreatorThank you, Lord, for giving me a talent that permits me to work from home with a flexible schedule so that I can be there for my family. Thank you for all my blessings.
I give you full glory. My FamilyMy mom, sisters Karen and Sandy, and Daniel for their help with the kids so that I could meet deadlines; my cousin Tammie Baggett for her love, extensive help, quilt stencil drawings and lots of quilting advice. My StitchersMy dear, true friend Sandy Kent, on whom I leaned for more than sewing. Thanks for stitching your heart out on several projects. Your opinions, hard work and dedication are greatly appreciated! To Angi Baker and Mary Jane Hetzlein for helping stitch blocks for projects. I couldnt have made it without you girls! My Publishers and StaffVanessa Lyman for being patient and understanding, and for all her hard work organizing the book; Christine Polomsky for her wild personality and beautiful photography; Candy Wiza for pitching my idea and to everyone behind the scenes at Krause Publications and F+W Media that helped make my dream come to print.
My DVD PublisherTo Nancy Zieman for choosing me to work with her on this book; Im honored. To Deanna Springer and Lois Kurtz for their hospitality, making Sandy Kent and I feel at home during our week-long visit to Wisconsin. I really enjoyed videographers Bruce Johnson and Steve Doebel, as well as Vicki Fischer, my makeup artist. My FriendsDJ Caputo for always believing in me, Cindy Lee for her eye for color and knowledge of quilting, Lee Hall for his generosity, Veronica Cox for showing me the ropes and Rebecca Kemp Brent for assisting with the conversions. Id also like to thank the following companies for providing materials for the projects in this book: RNK Distributing, OLFA, United Notions Moda, RJR Fabrics, Blank Quilting, Havels Inc., June Tailor, Inc., Superior Threads, Clover Needlecraft, Inc., and Buzz Tools, Inc. Dedication I would like to dedicate this book to my children, Linsey Reece and Talon Dean.
