Page vii PREFACE This publication is to serve as an index to collections of wedding music, both instrumental and vocal. One hundred ninety-one books have been included, with over 3,400 different compositions listed. The majority of the music books are comprised of vocal music. With the exception of the organ and piano, no attempt was made to index collections of wedding music for specific instruments. However, if any of the selected anthologies included non-keyboard instrumental accompaniment, such as brass, woodwind, or guitar, these have been included. Several books are written for electronic keyboard or are "fake-books" (melody and words only). For additional access to publications of this type, see the author's 1990 Scarecrow Press publication Where's That Tune?: An Index to Songs in Fakebooks. Collections of general music which contained only a small number of songs appropriate for use as wedding music were excluded. Rather, Wedding Music: An Index to Collections includes only those anthologies designed specifically for use with the wedding ceremony, or which contain a substantial quantity of appropriate titles. Arrangement is in 4 parts: (I) a bibliography of books indexed, with the accompanying code; (II) an index of titles/first lines; (III) an index of composers; (IV) an index of instrumental music. Alphabetization is word-by-word. Due to the large number of libraries actively using OCLC services, the unique OCLC number for each music book has been included, when available, in the bibliographic citation. Also included in the citation is the medium of performance. A special thanks to Vada Szurgot and other Interlibrary Loan personnel of the Oak Lawn (IL) Public Library and the Suburban Library System for all their assistance in locating the many different collections.
