Prologue

First Glimpses of the Code

Over my lifetime I have made a careful scientific study of the religious, the ecstatic, the transcendental, and the enlightened experience. This study began as a child and it has continued throughout my entire life, well beyond graduate school and on into the experiential teachings of shamans and mystics. I have been blessed with what my mother called true language abilities, which she defined as a peculiar manner of understanding, seeing, and communicating with energy directly without the limitations of a particular cognitive system. I perceive, speak with, and listen directly to the essences of many different types of being. These abilities often manifest themselves in waking visions, in seeing beyond, and in awakened Dreaming, in which wisdom is communicated via its direct languagea transmission of movement from within inner silence and received as an experiential understanding that I can then interpret, and that I may later confirm to be truth and share with others for their benefit.

As an adult, I searched out this phenomena in the accounts of the lives of religious saints, mystics, and the prophets; from healers, yogis, masters, and realized beings to the esoteric mystery traditions; in ancestral gods and spirits; within psychology and psychiatry; in archetypes, hermeneutics, cryptography, anthropology, and the science of physics; and via the study of dreams and trance. I sought out shamans, lamas, priests and priestesses, and medicine men and women for good counsel, so as to receive their blessings upon these abilities. The Tibetans understand it and describe the energy as a sacred marriage of profound wisdom to skillful means, which is like an elixir that is poured into a vessel, a body. The language is one they poetically refer to as the Twilight Language. This language comes from the enlightened realms. Certain individuals can understand or interpret it for the purpose of recovering and perhaps revealing, if the time is right, ancient and evolutionary treasures and teachings that lead others toward enlightenment, healing, empowerment, and liberation.

The shamans of the Yuman native culture understand it also, perhaps best of all, and they call this ability Dream Power. One who possesses this sought-after gift is titled a Kwaxot. Yuman natives do not have a religion. Rather, they base their entire body of shamanic wisdom and medicine, and the selection of their leaders, upon Dream Power. These initiated individuals have the ability to understand this Twilight Language or the language of Dream Power so profoundly that they can interpret any dream accurately and speak with convincing, empowered wisdom and eloquence when they serve as leaders. They also have the ability to make their Dreams manifest in the waking world of the collective, to see into energy directly, and to enter into the dreams of others for sacred medicine purposes.

It has been my great fortune to be led to magnificent individuals of many different global traditions and culturesfrom temple mystics to hunter-gathererswho have cultivated, cherished, understood, and empowered this ability. They have all given me their blessing. It is the Twilight Language itself that has led me to those who can communicate with it directly. As a result of their seasoned development and Dream Power guidance, I have grown to understand the treasure and I continue to grow in this understanding.

What I put forth here are gems from the treasure chest for collective joy, evolution, and liberation. I offer them up freely for the fulfillment of every desire and as medicine. These wisdom gems are not all that has been revealed within the chest, but they are truly valuable, and it is permissible to share facets of them. I have found in experimenting, and in sharing with doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, scientists, documenters, spiritual seekers, artists, and everyday people worldwide, that these jewels bring profound, blessed change for the better. This is simply excellence, and it brings us answers to many benevolent prayers and a gradual severing of the ties that bind us to delusion, to misery, to slavery, and to division.

So how shall you benefit from this book?

The body of this book consists of three main aspects. One aspect is that of initiatory experiences that will assist the readers in understanding and experiencing the profound nature of the wisdom itself. The second aspect is that of carefully selected practices that are included for the readers at the end of each chapter. These practices are designed to be suitable and beneficial for any level, from novice to professional, from layperson, to adept, to practitioner. Their purpose is to give experiential tasks that may be successfully applied in ones own life and work. The third aspect is that of practical wisdom and applications, and it is suitable for everyone seeking examples, cases, and studies of putting this work into practice directly in the worlds we live in.

The entire book is written as a seamless marriage of art and cathartic recounting, psychology, alternative healing, shamanism and spirituality, religious experience and objective science, and practical guidance. It is written in this manner because I reside and practice in all of these worlds and because the divisiveness in our existential realities is one cause of the maladies. The experiences and wisdom are genuine and the explanations are lucid and clear. The scope moves from the interlacing of subjectivities to the sublime witnessing of the miraculous in the purely objective mode.

This work can stand alone or be combined with other disciplines. It is artful, powerful, and effective; yet that is all focused into the strong essence of humility and love, and applied in a compassionate, honest, and selfless manner. The work, the recounting, the energy, and the practices transcend the barriers of the written word, of cognition, culture, politics, religion, and dogma. Anyone with any educational background or belief system, from any walk of life, can approach this and benefit in some manner. The practices can be applied and experienced, the stories and accounts may be learned from, appreciated, and enjoyed, and the energy may be transmitted directly. Thus at whatever level you may find yourself, there is some aspect of this work that will apply and be beneficial.

Everything offered here has been thoroughly tested by myself and my colleagues in collaboration with medical doctors, psychologists, and psychiatrists. It is all totally sound and credible, highly benevolent and successful, applicable and approachable, mature and saneand yet enjoyable, spontaneous, and fun, all at the same time. Even though it reaches and thinks far outside the box, and discovery and surprise await, the reader and practitioner and professional may feel totally confident that this is benevolently intended, for the greatest benefit, for it is thinking and living only inside the box that has created all of our problems.
