DEDICATION
To my husband and family, without whom I would not have written this book. To my husband, Rob Bancroft, for your relentless support and encouragement. Thank you for all of those mornings you took care of everything because I like to write at night. I love you. To my parents, Jimmy and Michelle, for teaching me everything I know and for always pushing me to do my best and be creative. To my sisters, Pierrette and Jemina, and my mom, my sounding boards and creative critics, for helping me in every way to refine my ideas for the projects. To my mother-in-love, Dorothy, for your support and love.

PREFACE
I still remember my favorite blouse from the second grade. A simple, boat-necked, short-sleeved top, it was made from the softest Liberty of London Tana Lawn. The print was Wiltshire, with a soft, sky-at-night blue background and clusters of small berry-shaped flowers in shades of pink. I think it was that blouse that sparked my love not only for Liberty of London Tana Lawn fabric but also for the idea of one day sewing. The light and somehow soft, yet crisp, feel of the fabric and the watercolor look of the prints were a favorite even as a child.
I began collecting Liberty of London Tana Lawn as a girl on the verge of growing up and on the verge of making the step from sewing a little to realizing it was one of my lifes true passions.
My first small patchwork project was a book cover. It was made with washed-out shades of blue Liberty my mom had given me, left over from Easter dresses she had sewn for my sisters and me. That simple little patchwork book cover cemented my relationship with sewing, and I havent stopped, creating countless projects since.
My budding love of sewing only exponentially increased my love and fascination with Liberty prints. As a young adult I would go shopping in local fabric stores with my mom and sisters, and we would all ooh and aah over newly stocked rolls of Liberty, debating what to use them for and dreaming up all of the clothes we wanted to sew with them. To this day we all still have the same reaction.
