difficulty ratings
Each pattern in this book is rated in terms of concentration required so you can better choose projects to suit whatever situation youre in. Mindless These are the simplest projects, patterns that can be knit in a bar or while hanging out with your rowdiest knitting friends. They are mostly stockinette or garter stitch with simple increases and decreases. Relaxed These projects can be done out of the corner of your eye, while watching a movie or enjoying conversation with a friend. You might need to pay attention now and then. They include simple cables or lace patterns so you can focus on other things.
Attentive These projects, while still not extremely difficult, will occasionally require a little focus and attention to detail. Involving more complex cables, lace, and attached borders, they take a bit of knitting know-how. abbreviations and definitions

Notes on Sizing Socks The length of the feet of the sock designs in this book is customizable, therefore it is not necessary to select a size based on foot length. Instead, select your size based on the desired finished circumference. Since socks should be worn with 12" of negative ease, you should select a size where the circumference is 12" less than the widest part of the foot. To customize the foot length, follow the instructions in the patterns. You will be instructed to work the foot length, less the length of the toe. Purled Bind-off Step 1: Purl the first stitch.
