It says something simple yet importantthe Army offers a unique opportunity to realize your potential while serving in the defense of our country. Whether you served for 2 years or 20, you have been a member of the Army family. As we outline in Chapter 4, the Army provides several high-quality transition services that you'll want to take advantage of prior to your departure from active duty.
This book is intended to serve as a self-directed guide that will steer you through each phase of the career transition process. The beginning chapters are focused on self-assessment and assist the reader in identifying well-formed career goals and objectives. The middle chapters address the nuts-and-bolts of a job searchconducting research, writing resumes and cover letters, networking, interviewing, and negotiating salary. The final chapters examine special career and lifestyle concerns of interest to many transitioning Army personnelrelocation and implementing one's goals.
