Where would I be without you?

Tied to many of my stories and this book is my remarkable mother, Janet. She was the first person to tell me that if I wanted to leave college and become a pastry chef, that I wasnt crazy, but that Id better be successful. I listened. When I wanted to move to California, on a whim, she was there. Through the happy highs and tearful lows, my mom has been on speed dial. She is wise and kind with a directness that I gratefully possess. One of the most naturally glamorous women I know, who is never without her lipstick, she shines bright. I owe her everything (including a villa in Italy).

Sherry Yard, at first a maternal figure, then a mentor, and now someone I would call a true and dear friend. I adore this woman. I am grateful for the trail that she has blazed for women. Chefs, pastry chefs, and business leaders alike. As a woman working and owning her creativity and style, Sherry was one of the firsts. Never have I seen this woman deterred. We have an understanding, or a knowing that is very much mutual, something I have always recognized and undoubtedly cherish. Monkey Girl.

Katherine Sacks, one of the first people to intercept me as a young pastry cook arriving for my first day of work at Spago, all the way through life, straight to this book. I apparently tried to steal her name when we first began working together, hence

the solidification from Kat (old me) to Katzie. Kat is a talent beyond even her own realization. Creative, intelligent, hardworking, and passionate about all aspects of food culture. Her deep dive into and respect for Japanese culture and cuisine has been fascinating to witness, and I cannot wait to see how it will continue to bear fruit. This book would not have been possible without her. Her dedication to preparing, styling, scaling, and being a figure of strength for the creation of these photos moved me. I look forward to returning the favor.

I have no direct place to begin with Amy Harsch. Supportive in every moment from a young girl to now. Amy knows how to do it all well, with a specific grace and integrity. The sweet portion of this book would not have existed without her generosity and taste for a well-designed functional kitchen and selfless act of love.

Kerens eye, nobody has it. My favorite curly-haired, chocolate-loving woman, who brought so much kindness and discernment to these images. She is honest and encouraging, with a talent for look, feel, and texture that you cannot learn.

My family. My sister, Rebecca; brother, Matthew; and honorary brother, Peter. To be so lucky to have a team of people who believe in you, and who you believe in as well. Thank you for your patience and support during this endeavor. Emma, Sean, and Margie, I hope I have made Robbie proud. To the entirety of the Guys, Hamiltons, McKelvies, Clearys, and beyond. The encouragement, love, and support throughout this process produced a dynamic force. Each and every one of you mean the world.

The dynamic duo of Jennifer Kurdyla and Sarah Smith. To have an editor and an agent who understand your point of view, internalize it, and express it in their own way is Clean Enough. Sarahs commitment to not making this a book about clean food, a dessert bible, or a collection of thoughts about mindfulness and self-care, but rather a collective approach to a life well lived is why we can all be Clean Enough. Jennifers remarkable patience and ability to synthesize run-on thoughts, actions, and sentences have no match; my gratitude for her continues to grow by the day. Sarah Smith, the other Sarah, for designing an incredibly beautiful book and putting up with trying to understand the inner workings of my creative brain.

To the women in my life: Sarah, Samantha, Anna, Puja, Rebecca, Andrea, Rachel, Tarin, Jacquie, Callie, Amanda, Berkley, Michelle, Brianna, Mary-Kate, Alicia, Ali, Megan, Leigh... Every. Single. One. Of. You. You are enough, you are brilliant, and your unique gifts and friendship have both inspired and challenged this work, an extension of myself. I am both embraced and better because of all of you.

To Equinox and Furthermore, and everyone who makes up this engine of thinkers and doers. These high-performance individuals continue to keep me motivated to execute and follow through with all of lifes projects. A powerful group embodying movement, nutrition, and regeneration both personally and professionally. Collectively the people I am grateful to be surrounded by take a stand that to live and perform better you must individually be better. To the partnerships cultivated through the Equinox halo, every smoothie, tea, product, and perspective is what keeps me committed.

To my culinary school, which will forever be the French Culinary Institute, now the International Culinary Center. The education, community, and ongoing support that I am able to contribute to, enjoy, and be a part of is unique. Chef Jurgen, Jansen Chan, Ron-Ben Israel, and the rest of the community carrying the torch of Dorothy Cann-Hamilton keep my sweet spirit alive and bright.

To my universe, all of equal importance. My family of friends held together by the Clarkes and one Christopher Lee, the most brilliant group of misfits to call your own, and the new generation led by Remy, Ali, and Charlotte. Michael and Erin and the RYE family, there would be no Banana Luscious without all of you. My Max Brenner posse, forever tied together by incredibly chocolate-covered experiences. Michel Cluizel and Jacques Dahan, your generosity has coated this book in milk, dark, and white. To everyone tied to this work in the present, past, and into the future: Thank you.

And finally to all of my healers, followers of the moon, and those with one constant: love.
