And lucky you, because its the one with the EASIEST (and quite possibly the most delicious) recipes of all! Here are six simple things you might not know about me and about this book!1. I LOVE simple and easy recipes. When I started sending Hungry Girl daily emails back in 2004, my goal was to create ridiculously easy and delicious recipes. Many of the early recipes were so simple that they were actually more like food assembly! Its always been a goal of mine to make better-for-you recipes that anyone (and I mean ANYONE!) can make. I think this book delivers in spades, and youre going to LOVE it 2. FUN FACT: When I was younger, I would flip through cookbook recipes that looked appealing then immediately put the book down because it featured weird ingredients or complicated instructions. (I still dont!) My recipes are super easy and make people who think theyre kitchen klutzes feel like chefs. (I still dont!) It makes the Hungry Girl brand relatable and attainable, and Im really proud of that! 3. After 12 books, I knew it was finally time to put together a collection of fast and easy recipes with very few ingredients for the audience. Its what everyone has been asking for! Every recipe in this cookbook has six (or fewer!) main ingredients. Youll find future classics, family favorites, and simplified versions of dishes you could never imagine making with only six ingredients. 4. Sometimes, I play favorites. In this book, my favorite recipe may be the AHHHH! I love too many to pick just one. 5.
Im an information junkie, so here are some important stats for you. Every recipe in this book has less than 375 calories per serving. More than half of them will take you 30 minutes or less to prepare and two dozen of those take 15 minutes or less! A whopping 18 of the recipes require NO COOKING AT ALL, 95 are GLUTEN-FREE, 91 of them are VEGETARIAN, and 147 are 100% DELICIOUS (thats ALL of them, dont worry!). 6. What does Simply 6 mean? It simply means each of these recipes calls for SIX (or fewer!) main ingredients. What doesnt count as a main ingredient? Water, ice, basic seasonings, and serving suggestions. Look for the Extra, Extra! callouts to identify any optional ingredients. Youll also see the occasional herb garnish in photos. Feel free to garnish your dishes any way you like or not at all! Also, the ingredients called for in this book are SUPER-SIMPLE supermarket staples. No pomegranate molasses or organic rose water here!
What makes these recipes all natural? The recipes in this book feature lots of whole natural ingredients: lean protein, fruits & veggies, eggs, oats, etc.
When it comes to other foods called for in the recipeslike cheese, condiments, and canned goodseach and every one of those is readily available without any artificial ingredients. When in doubt, look for all-natural brands, read the products ingredient list, or just stick to a natural food store. Are these recipes good for diabetics or people on a low-sodium diet? Remember, Im not a nutrition professional. (Im just hungry!) So I dont offer medical advice related to any dietary conditions.
