I m alive because of Transform 5. My new life started on April 22, 1997, the day I was diagnosed with colon cancerthe disease that had taken the lives of my father and my mother-in-law. A medical crisis that could have ended my life instead transformed it.
On the gloomy afternoon when I came home from the hospital, I wasnt feeling much like Dr. Bill, author, teacher, and lecturer on family health. I was just another patient recovering from a five-hour surgery and looking unhappily ahead to radiation and chemotherapy.
But despite thator maybe because of iton that day and in the weeks and months that followed, I began a transformative change in my thinking. My life was on the line. If I didnt make some serious adjustments in the way I was living, the quality of my life would slide downhill, and it would be over all too soon. I made a vow to get well and stay well, for the sake of my beloved family and friends, for the many precious patients I cared for, and, yes, for myself.
I made the decision to transform, and made it my mission to help others transform.
