We all understand the basics of a healthy lifestyle. We need more fruits and vegetables, less of the processed jargon and a lot of balance in our everyday living. Trying to achieve this balance is what wreaks havoc; its typically what makes us seek experts for guidance. My journey with the Mediterranean Diet was pretty similar. As a professional nutritionist, I was always assessing and dissecting new diet fads that came and went into the market.
How could they introduce a diet plan that wasnt wholesome or didnt provide all the essential nutrients? Id often wonder. Most diets available in the market are so extreme and lack ample research to provide a COMPLETE solution to losing weight and living healthy.
A good diet plan is one that caters to our mental, physical, hormonal, emotional, and lifestyle needs. We need a plan that will work with us, rather than forcing us to completely change our lifestyle to meet its requirements.
We savor something that can easily be prepared in 5-minutes before quickly heading to work in the morning. We crave a lifestyle that wouldnt kill our pockets or our organs!
All this research led me to gain a better understanding of the lifestyles and diets from around the world. What better way to adapt a plan than follow the people that have been doing it correctly for centuries? People with the best heart health and highest life spans?
