Affiliate Marketing Through Blogging

One of the most profitable things that I have done to-date when it comes to making money online is affiliate marketing. According to Wikipedia. This is the definition of what affiliate marking which is also known as referral marketing is:

Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliate marketers for each visitor and or or customer brought by the affiliates marketing efforts.
Simplified. Your main goal is to drive traffic to a website. When a client or customer makes a purchase that you sent to the website. You in turn will earn a commission or some form of retribution from the sale.

Do you recall, seeing at the top of the page in the results after doing a Google search something that looks like the image below. Starts with the letters Ad. This is what's called paid advertising through google. Chances are the links are affiliate links and someone will get paid when you click on the link.

What I am hoping to do with this e-book is to go over the basics of affiliate marking through blogging to help you get started. I will also be going over some ins and outs of affiliate marketing, How to set up a blog successfully to help drive traffic as well as the good and the bad. I will be talking about the process I went through to make money doing affiliate marketing. How I found companies and products to market... I will also help you with some training suggestions, as well to help take your business to the next level and beyond.

Throughout this e-book, you will see some things highlighted in BLUE. What this is, is links to take you directly to the sites that I am talking about. Doing it this way will ensure that you go directly to the item that I am talking about and not get lost in a google search. If you click on the link, and nothing happens. Just check your browser.
From my personal experience. There are numerous ways to make money with affiliate marketing. Some popular ones are landing pages. This is where you create a custom web page catering to several similar items or services designed to convert traffic into a sale. Email campaigns where you send out emails driving traffic to a specific product or service.

Others are coupon sites, review sites, Loyalty Portals, Incentive Programs and more. The best way to promote affiliate marketing in my opinion is through Blogging. Here you would write about a certain topic, and place sever links to various products and services throughout your blog
Another very popular method is through building a following on social media.

The way this works is you build a following or an audience through channels like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram... You would then post affiliate links to certain products and services to drive traffic. With this method, you can generate multiple streams of revenue. You can get paid for the videos that you created on YouTube. For social media accounts, you can also charge a fee to promote stuff as an influencer. Where people pay you upfront to promote their products and services.

What it comes down to with affiliate marketing. Is you have to do what is best, or works for you.

The method that I prefer to drive traffic is through blogging.

The way this method works is you pick a niche and write about it. When you write about a topic, you then add links throughout the blog that are linked to relevant products and services concerning the blog.

The reason why I prefer this method is the fact that you can build up consistency with the postings. This in turn will make it easier for Google to find you.

You can also implement whats called keywords and search engine optimization (SEO). Doing this method you can improve on your google rankings when someone searches for your niche that your writing about over time.
Though there are other methods. I found YouTube, Blogging and Influencer's being the 3 methods to be the most popular. Especially when you take more than 1 of these options and combine them.

The most common example of this is having a YouTube channel to build up a following. When you post a video. You include affiliate links for relevant product or services.

Myself, I have concentrated on the blog format and have dabbled in the others only slightly. For rest of this e-book, I will be talking about the blog method

The Good and the Bad

The Bad

Lets start out with the bad. This is not a get rich scheme. This can and will take a lot of time as well as a lot of work. It can take sometime before you will start to see a return on your time and efforts. Sometimes several months or longer. This is also a type of business that will take consistency working it. If your not consistent blogging with your posts. Google will rank you further and further down the list of results. Making it harder to earn.

There could also be times where you don't get paid. Making all of your hard work and efforts in vain.

Now for the good.

With affiliate marketing, you can make a lot of money. The potential is and can be huge. You will get out of it exactly what you put into it. Its also a business model where you can work either full time or just part-time.

If you are only looking at making a couple of hundred dollars a month extra, you can do just that. But if you are also looking at making 10s of thousands per month. It also has that potential.

The nice thing about affiliate marketing is, you can work it when you want to,. You can scale it to any level that you want to. You are the boss and you have total say and control.

Another nice thing about affiliate marketing is you can work it all by yourself, on your schedule. Or you can, when you get to a certain level hire writes and contributors through sites like www.fiverr.com building your business to a higher level.
