Dr. Lance Knaub
Dedication
There are many people Id like to thank for supporting me in completing this book, which has clearly changed me personally and my life in the writing process.
Id like to thank my parents for giving me unconditional love and support throughout my childhood and entire life. I would not have the solid foundation or be who I am today without their love and guidance.
My wife, Jodi, is the ultimate teammate for me. She has been understanding and has made many sacrifices to allow me to have the time to commit to the book and allow me to share my message with other entrepreneurs. Thank you to my children Sage and Aspen, who listened to all my ideas along the way; and to my daughter Sierra, who shared her creativity with several illustrations to bring specific messages to life.
Jodi and I are fortunate to have tremendous partners Dr. Kevin Schnitzer, Dr. Nate Steltz, and Dr. Nick Nolan, who are committed to continuous improvement and leading Breakthru Physical Therapy + Fitness to new heights. Jodi and I both thank them and our entire Breakthru family for being part of the journey with us.
My mentor and friend Marilyn Powell helped me fill in gaps as I was creating the book outline and process. Without her interest in me, and her coaching, I would probably not be sharing this story with the world.
Jim Quinn has become a great friend and he has been an invaluable mentor who has shared his financial savvy, work ethic, and discipline with me. I would like to thank him, and especially his wife, Susan, for tolerating our many late night phone calls over the years.
My early editorial reviewers were invaluable: Andrew Paetow, Al Sun, Jacob Fox, Gary Steel, Alan Cavalieri, Sharon James, Michael Axler, Dr. Daniel Machin, Ethan Feldman, Kaleb Baker, Jessica Yeager, Rich Burkhardt, Steve Gaano, and Alex Papasavas.
Id like to thank Mat Machin, my editor, who skillfully drew the words out from me many times asking me to give him more to complete the stories. He and I met in person in Austin, Texas, to attend the Author Advantage Live conference. We scootered around town together checking out the University and 6th street. Getting to know one another well helped make the book better, and there were future book ideas that rose up that will hopefully come to fruition. Fringe benefits of the conference included meeting Nathan Latka, who was extremely generous with his time, Hal Elrod, and many other inspirational experts, along with the Self-Publishing Schools entire team.
Thank you to Tasche Laine, my proofreader, and an experienced author. She assisted me on the book cover, the size of the book, and the self-publishing process, as well as copy-edited and proofread this book. She is an amazing English teacher pivoting (entrepreneurially) in her career and I would highly recommend her.
Id like to extend a thank you to my formatter Michael Lacey, who is also an experienced author and book coach, who helped me far beyond formatting with wordsmithing and marketing, and working with my expert team.
Thank you to graphic designer Wendy Roe, of Susan K. Bailey Marketing, for the beautiful cover design, and for being a fantastic listener and nailing the concept quickly and efficiently. I wanted to stand out from the personal development and business genre which primarily uses text for covers. I absolutely love the superhero images, and hope they inspire many entrepreneurs to bring out their full superabilities.
Kaleb Baker deserves a shout out as my book accountability partner and who is now assisting with my website and landing page with his marketing agency Markethoot.
Thank you to our undergraduate interns Mike Kane and Madison Hacker who helped me locate and organize good references, which was not a small task with the book covering so many areas of health. Mike was having so much fun he continued to help me beyond his internship and I appreciate this very much and I am looking forward to continuing to work with him as we share the messages in the book with the world.
Lastly, I would like to extend a thank you specifically to all of you who have become part of our loyal Breakthru community and recognize the heart and soul we put into your care. It has been an honor to serve you. We would not be here without you, our clients, and we truly appreciate your word of mouth support and referrals. I sincerely hope Breakthru is around for many more years to come, to serve your health and fitness needs and to live up to our mission of being the communitys choice for physical therapy and fitness.
Foreword
The 4% Break-Thru helps entrepreneurs build an automated business machine so they can have a fulfilled life together with their thriving business. Dr. Lance created a step-by-step process, which is exactly what I advocate when creating systems and processes, and the design I have used with my programs to teach effectively and keep entrepreneurs on track to achieve lifestyle and financial freedom.
In the early years of my business, I personally suffered the pain and consequences of not having an adequate work-to-life balance and have made tremendous sacrifices. If only a book like The 4% Break-Thru was available when I started Entrepreneur on Fire, I might not have sustained as much extraordinary stress, and could have had success more rapidly. My partner, Kate, and I have prioritized the non-work and non-financial part of our lives, and we have traveled the world for 90 consecutive days while our business continued to operate and generate 6 figure profits each month. I am getting a taste of what its like to do what Lance has done; to create an asset that is so organized and proficient it can operate seamlessly for an extended period without you, so you can avoid what Lance calls No Life Syndromeand instead have a life.
With mentors and coaches, follow someone who is where you want to be. Lance has accomplished the entrepreneurial dream of creating a business with thorough processes that is being operated by his talented team.
I have become increasingly curious and have been developing a passion for health and wellness, and I love the message Lance is sharing to help other small business owners create healthy businesses and healthy lives. Apply the lessons shared to your own lives and businesses to prevent yourself from experiencing extreme stress and burning out.
It always begins with investing in yourself, and your success will hinge on your personal development with whats between your ears. This is the first step in The 4% Break-Thru. The second step consists of developing your best business practices including processes, and defining your non-negotiables and priorities in your Success Schedule. Lastly, actionable, practical, evidence-based health knowledge and tactics are the real magic in the 4% Break-Thru process.
Start by learning about yourself and establish your baseline by giving yourself an honest assessment that Lance has provided in this book. You cant improve what you dont know or measure. Then identify your gaps and follow your Northstar; work through The 4% Break-Thru and reassess to see how you have changed, and what you have become.
