CHAPTER 1

The hard times were over for Maxwell Jordan. After getting five numbers and the bonus number on the national lottery, he no longer had the need to transact shady deals or hustle to make a living. What did not end for Maxwell was his womanizing ways, and his taste for the better things in life.

Maxwell was in a passionate clinch on the settee with his latest conquest. He heard the key turning in the lock. He was flustered and angry when Deborah his live in lover walked into the living room. She has caught Maxwell red-handed with another woman. "Deborah!" he declared. "What the hell are you doing back here so soon? You're not supposed to be back until Monday night." The dark expression on Deborah's face indicated she was ready to explode. "Never mind about when I am supposed to be back. I think you have some explaining to do! So you better start explaining." The girl on the settee gave Deborah a demeaning look; then she looked back at Maxwell. "Who is this Maxwell? Just get rid of her and let's go back to bed."

Deborah's wrath descended on the girl in the form of a slap across her face. "This is for calling me "This." She slapped her again. "And this is for sleeping with my man, in my bed. Now get out of my home and crawl back to wherever you came from." Maxwell tried to take control, when the girl asked him to defend her. "Take it easy Baby." he said. "Let me deal with this in my own way." He walked up to Deborah and shouted at her. "Who gave you permission to bring violence into my house?" Maxwell's rebuke turned Deborah's anger into a raging storm. She ripped his silk pajama shirt to shreds, while pounding his chest with her clenched fist.

Maxwell gritted his teeth and snarled. "This used to be your home, but not anymore." Deborah replied with calm defiance. "Maxwell, has her pussy turned you into a fool? Or are you having a memory block? This is as much my home as it is yours. So just get this bitch out of here; then you can tell me what has been going on behind my back."

Deborah stood resolute. She was going nowhere. Maxwell was just as determined. He put his arm around his new woman's waist and pulled her firm breasts on to his muscular chest. "Sorry Debbie, your MOT has run out. It expired a while back, but I didn't have the heart to tell you. So now you know."

Deborah was not about to walk away. She was shocked that he wanted to dump her for this new girl. "Maxwell! How can you do this to me? I have saved your sorry ass from going to prison by lying for you; I emptied my bank account to save your miserable life, when your supplier sent his gunmen to collect the money you owed him; and I defied my family who thought you were no good. Maxwell! ....I stood by you and now you want to dump me?"

Maxwell responded with cold indifference. "You should have listened to your family. I didn' promise you forever. You knew I was a Player. It had to end some time. So start packing yo belongings and forget that you ever lived here."

He looked at his new girlfriend with pride, then he planted a kiss on her bold glossy lips. "Deborah," Meet your replacement. This is Audrey. She is the new flame that is lighting my fire." Deborah was left speechless. There was no more fight left in her to keep her man. She tried to hold back her tears but could not. They flowed freely down her face. "Maxwell! How can you be so cruel? Would you like to see a man treat your sister the way you are treating me?" Audrey smirked at Deborah with a look of disdain, after Maxwell declared her his new Queen Bee. She scoffed. "If Maxwell's sister dresses the way you do, she deserves to be treated that way. It takes more than just your good looks to hold on to your man. Haven't you heard of Designer fashion wear darling?"

Audrey loosened the satin belt of her stylish lilac Lasenza negligee to expose her sexy thighs. "This is how you should dress when your man take you to bed, if you want to keep your man; and I've got what it takes to keep Maxwell excited in and out of bed, twenty four seven. Haven't I Maxwell darling?" She laughed mockingly. "Girl, Look at me and learn."

Deborah could hear Maxwell and Audrey chuckling when she went into the bedroom to pack her belongings. Deborah wondered how many other women Maxell slept with in her bed, when she went away to see her mother that was very ill. The shock was soon out of her system. She was feeling grateful when she remembered the miscarriage she had only two months ago. Deborah felt the Gods were smiling down on her. This was her lucky escape. Maxwell had just saved her from a life of deceit and his infidelity. He was not worth fighting for.

The two years she wasted living with Maxwell was at an end, and good riddance she thought. Deborah could not have imagined the gutter snipe that he turned out to be, if she had not caught him red handed as she did. While she packed her belongings, Deborah was remembering the days when Maxwell was broke and would stick to her like dog's shit on the sole of her shoes. She vowed no other man would ever use her again.

She had a few words for Audrey when she approached the door to leave. "You'll always be a home breaker, and never a homemaker. I can see that all a man has to do for you to pull your knickers down is to buy you a drink and whisper sweet nothing in your ears." She walked up into Audrey's face. "Maxwell can tell you. I don't drop my knickers for a glass of wine or a Chinese Take Away like you do. It was three months before Maxwell knew if I was a man or a woman. I feel sorry for you."

The insult was too much for Audrey to take. She hit back. "Listen Miss whatever your name is! You can say what you want about me; but that won't change anything. You are like yesterday's news; stale and out of date. So why don't you stop bellyaching and leave? Can't you see you're not wanted here?"

Deborah slapped Audrey so hard, the palm of hand exploded in pain. The swelling of Audrey's face was like a balloon rapidly inflating. Deborah's breath was steaming on Audrey's face. "You're nothing more than a slut! You are welcome to Maxwell, and all that he hasn't got to offer you."

She walked over to the man who spurned her. "Maxwell, there has never been a truer saying. They say if you lay with dogs, you will rise with fleas. I will collect the rest of my things when I find a flat; and I am warning you; I'll castrate you personally, if you let that slut go anywhere near my stuff. That is a promise." Then she took Maxwell's front door key from her key ring and handed it to him. She quietly walked out the door leaving Audrey holding an ice pack on her swollen face.

Audrey confronted Maxwell about something he told her when they first met, after Deborah left. "Maxwell! You told me the other day that you were finished with Deborah. You said then, you were waiting for her to collect her things from here. But that's not what just happened. Was it? Right up to the time when she put that key in the lock and entered, she was still living here."
