THIS BOOK is for you if youve struggled to achieve goals whether they be health and fitness related, career, or any life goals really, for some time now, perhaps it has felt like all your life you have been on some kind of journey to make progress, only to find life or just stuff has got in the way and slowed you down. Who Are We?
We are Ryan and Elly of Hodgson Health, an online coaching company that specialises in helping busy men and women become the best version of themselves, but more importantly, improving their relationship with themselves. We have been working at this for the last 5 years online and have helped over 4000 people with The Best YOU Formula.
We will go through our four key principles that make up the Best YOU Formula to help you become the best version of yourself and see why you are a priority.
We feel only if you get these four things correct can you sustainably expect to be happy with yourself. Have one of these four things missing, and unfortunately, any results will be short-lived.
It is also worth noting that you need to want to change and truly value how much being happy means to you, and this is going to be the first step.
We decided to revise our original book after the amount of amazing feedback we had when it first launched. We know now, 4 years later, this will only help even more people create clarity in their life.
Our experience in the industry has shown us how often we can chase the shiny objects that create instant gratification, our job is to bring things back to what;s really important-
Being happy and Healthy.
Watching how many men and women have been misled chasing the material things that often dont last, it really made us become more aware how it was not all about physical things such as diet and exercise, or even more weight or shape but that many factors will influence us and maybe determine our decision making which is why we coach more on a holistic approach to health and happiness rather than just focusing on fitness alone.
We look at any type of progress as unsuccessful if you have to do it again, no matter how long after you achieve it. That is why we are all about making sure the results you see last you a lifetime .
We think our message is simple, and it is ultimately you are trying to be the best, the best version of yourself. By this, its not just physical which of course for some being the best version for them is predominantly revolved around.
However, the mental side of things and psychological benefits to being happier and healthier because theyre really important. When we think about being healthy, most of the time, we just think about being physically healthy.
But, if you start to look out at the bigger picture if youre to lose the weight and perhaps appear physically healthy, but youre being driven mad avoiding your favorite foods or even vital nutrients to help your body function at its best, it will not be sustainable but its also not going to be any good for your own mental health.
So thats why its all about making sure you have a holistic approach to health and a holistic approach to your goals. Dont just think of one area and get tunnel vision about which we will talk about, The 4Bs further on in this book. Its really important that you look at the bigger picture and thats what we aim to help you with during this book.
We are brutally honest coaches that with our clients because we know there is a difference between an excuse and a reason, and half of the time what we think are reasons, are really just excuses for not working towards our goals.
If something is getting in the way, ultimately it means you prioritise that thing over what your goal was, which is absolutely fine, as long as youre open about that. However, you need to knock the excuses on the head because people that have excuses dont achieve their goals. People that have excuses dont move forward.
So you have a thought now, about whether you will make excuses or whether you will find reasons that they are excuses, and you should ignore them to keep moving forward. The choice is yours. What way are you going to have it?
Are you going to be an excuse maker who stands still, because often when we standstill or listen to our excuses we dont really stand still at all. We often slip further back.
Or, are you going to find ways to demolish the excuses and recognise when theyre coming up into your head?
As we know the big difference between the two of them.
One thing we have always done when we speak with clients is make things as simple as possible, which is why weve come up with a simple formula to achieving goals in all areas of your life.
We know how complicated things can get. We know how confusing things can get for you, particularly when you just want to lose weight, we mean, how difficult should it be?

Whats the wrong thing to do?
Everywhere you look, something that you thought was right is being said its wrong. So many things you perhaps thought were right, youre now hearing is wrong and visa versa. We aim to make this as simple as possible. Follow the framework and you will progress. Go towards the end of this book, and you will read our daily practices. If you follow these straight off from day one, you will see progress. However, we always encourage you to read the whole book to understand a bit more about how weve come up with the best YOU formula.
We developed this formula after working with thousands of clients during our time in the industry so far. Because we wanted to find the simple, sure-fire way to help you achieve your goals without you feeling like its all too much and takes away from other areas in your life.
