Rachelle Dene Poth is an accomplished edtech consultant, presenter, author, blogger, teacher, and attorney. She currently teaches Spanish and a course on emerging tech that covers AR/VR, artificial intelligence, coding, gaming, digital citizenship, video animation, and more. The founder of THRIVEinEDU, LLC, she presents regularly at conferences on technology and ways to drive student learning. She has a masters degree in instructional technology and serves as the president of the ISTE Teacher Education Network as well as on the leadership team for the Mobile Learning Network. She received the Making IT Happen Award at ISTE 2019 and the Presidential Gold Award for Volunteer Service to Education in 2018 and 2019. She was selected as one of 20 to Watch by the NSBA and the PAECT Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2017. Rachelle is a Future Ready Instructional Coach; an EduGladiator Core Warrior; an affiliate of Pushing Boundaries Consulting, LLC; a Buncee ambassador; an Edmodo certified trainer; and a Nearpod PioNear.

When I was a student in high school and college, digital tools were not available, so it was up to the teacher to come up with games and activities to help students practice and develop their skills. Teachers borrowed concepts of board games and adapted them to fit into their specific content area. We also had teacher-created games on worksheets and bingo icebreakers, both of which required students to move around the room and talk to one another.
