In a religion centered on the family unit, challenges with fertility and pregnancies are often cause for even more heartbreak and uncertainty. The title of this book, for me, had a double meaning; Lost Children in regard to the prayed for children we are unable to raise due to miscarriage or inability to conceive, but also the feeling for the parents who might feel they have become Lost Children to their Father in Heaven. It is so difficult to have faith in a plan that sometimes leaves us wounded to our core. Rachelle Christensen has done a wonderful job of not only honestly telling her story, but gathering generations worth of information that helps lead us to our own understanding of the trials we as women often face in our goal of having a family. Beautifully written and tactfully approached, Lost Children is a wonderful resource to those women whose hearts are broken; as well as providing assistance for those aching to offer comfort in a situation that often seems comfortless.
Any woman that has lost a child and felt that she too has been lost along the way, will find comfort, security, and hope within the pages of this book.

As a licensed professional counselor, Ive had the privilege of working with many people over the past twenty-eight years and Ive always found the most challenging situations are those involving good people trying to cope with the personal loss of a loved one. I believe the saddest cases are those involving a miscarriage. In her book, Lost Children: Coping with Miscarriage, author Rachelle Christensen offers help to those who have suffered with this tragedy, as well as rendering sound advice for those wanting to help, but who are not sure what to do or say.
Written through the experience of having endured the heartbreak of a miscarriage, Ms. Christensen guides the reader through an empathic trail of understanding and hope. Filled with the reassurance offered by the gospel of Jesus Christ, Ms. Christensen helps us understand Gods greater picture and the security and love which is found in trusting Him to make all things right in the end.
Lost Children: Coping with Miscarriage is one of those high quality reference books that belongs on every therapists book shelf. It is an excellent gift for every woman who has been called upon to endure such a deep, personal loss. Additionally, church leaders will find this book to be a great source of understanding into the needs and pains of women struggling with a miscarriage.
I intend to utilize this book in my practice and highly recommend it as a source of help and comfort. Anyone who reads her compassionate account will gain insights into this area of emotional and personal tragedy which is all too often neglected.

There are many people I want to thank who helped make this book possible. My husband, Steve, encouraged me every step of the way. My doctor, Lawrence Warner, and his kind office staff answered so many questions. Several people answered surveys and provided wonderful insight into how this trial affects each person differently. I have used many quotes from others, but changed the names to protect privacy throughout the book.
I would like to thank Janet Cox, Barbara Bodily, Shelly Olivier, Patrick and Necia Jolley, Karma Nalder, Jennifer Vest, Elise Catmull, Casey Mickelsen, Andrea Shaffer, Nichole Giles, Brittany Maxfield, Racquel Hutchings, Jen Tanner, Bret Butler, Ali Cross, Preston Farr, Andrea Jolley, Stephanie Johnson, Deana Edmondson, Stacie Henrie, Lori Whiting, and Annette Lyon.
