100 years is a big reason to celebrate. 100 years of history in the baking of literally thousands of kitchen-tested recipes that have been stirring things up for generations. Its always been about recognizing that the kitchen is the heart of the home and the joy of sharing good food is a magnet that connects us with those we love.

Also sprinkled throughout this book is a look back at my story and how Ive come to be (and still am) one of the most recognized names in America. 100 years later, Im still stirring up recipes to trend with the times and sharing the wealth of my cooking knowledge; empowering you in the kitchen to create your own magical food connectors. The Many Faces of Betty Crocker
Betty Crocker100 years old and still one of the most recognized names in America! Betty was born in 1921, but not in a hospital or at the hand of a midwife. She was born in an office! Spoiler alert: Betty is NOT a real person. When the makers of Gold Medal flour held a contest asking people to solve a puzzle and send it in to receive a free flour sack pin cushion, what they got back was more than completed puzzles. Consumers also sent in questions by the hundreds, asking for help in cooking and baking. The executives at the company decided that there should be a personality created who would respond to consumers questions and provide recipes as well as cooking and baking advice.
And so, Betty was born. Company executives took the name Betty, a popular, friendly sounding name of the time, and paired it with Crocker, the name of a beloved retired leader of the company. A paper was passed around the office, and everyone wrote her signature until one was found that they liked, and it became her signature signature!
