He attended Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and became a Certified Harley-Davidson mechanic. He says the Lord had other plans for him, though.
He is now the owner of the Cave Gym in Sarasota, Florida and the coordinator of Mace Fit. He is a Certified Underground Strength Coach Level 2 and a Certified Vintage Strength Coach Level 1. Forward Its been said that 40 is the new 20. Thats a cool saying and feeling younger then you actually are is a good goal. However, it wont happen unless you are dedicated to achieving that goal. That is going to take self-discipline.
Can you achieve that goal? Of course, but not easily. The cover photo is of me doing dips shortly before my 70 th birthday. I have been blessed by the Lord to still be healthy and strong, but I still had to do my part. First, lets clear the deck of the excuses, myths, and distractions that keep men and women weak.
Chapters 1-Weakness Is A Crime 2-Where Did All My Muscles Go? 3-My Pants Must Have Shrunk Again 4-I Used To Be Able To.. They are not guilty of the crime of weakness and I respect them greatly! However, the world is full of lazy people too. They are not guilty of the crime of weakness and I respect them greatly! However, the world is full of lazy people too.
Lazy people are weak. Weakness is a choice, and a very bad one. Even a dead fish can float downstream. So if being mediocre is your normal then you will miss out on a lot in life. The biggest obstacle to getting strong is your own mind. Weak mind=weak body
- You have no goals
- You dont finish anything you start (if you ever get started on something at all)
- You have become one with your couch
- Social media and TV do all your thinking for you
A sliver of motivation can result from that and perhaps that can get you started. Motivation is a short-lived experience, but discipline is what it takes for the long haul. A spark can start a forest fire and you own the spark in your life. The spark is your decision that you want to get strong. It doesnt matter how many lazy youve been in the past. You can make a new start today.
Heres a few things you can do today:
- Stand in front of a mirror with your shirt off
- Ask yourself if you really want to look like that
- Ask yourself if your wife or husband really wants to see something like that
- Ask yourself if you could take action to protect your family
- Take a photo of how you look now and save it for future reference
- Start strengthening your mind by getting a good non-fiction book about people who have overcome difficult situations in life
- Read 15 minutes in that book today, then every day until you finish it
- Buy another book like it and keep reading

If you havent worked out in years or never have at all, you can cause a lot of harm to yourself by just jumping in and going crazy with a program you have no clue about. You might be enthusiastic, but without a good trainer or coach you are setting yourself up for an injury. A word to the wise: dont start running if you are really obese and out of shape. Start off with walking on a consistent basis first. You might ask if running will make you strong, well it wont unless you are a sprinter. This is me doing lat pull downs at almost 70 years young. This is me doing lat pull downs at almost 70 years young.
I did manual labor for much of my adult life and it has paid off. I also have trained for many years. Remember, being strong is not your default destination. You have to earn it over time.
My Pants Must Have Shrunk Again The Battle of the Bulge was a famous World War II battle. That was many years ago.
Nowadays there is a different battle of the bulge all over America and the world: obesity. People make many excuses about why they are overweight. Barring any medical problems, like side effects from prescription medications, severe illness, or injuries, they caused it themselves. One bad habit people have is eating because the food tastes good, not because they are still hungry. The food is so savory or rich they just plow ahead and eat seconds and sometimes thirds. Other times its not just how much people eat as it what they eat.
Fast food and other garbage will add the pounds fast. Food should fuel your body according to your activity level. Cleaning up your eating habits is pretty simple overall. Its nothing to freak out about. In fact, it helps to approach it as stress-free as possible. While I am not a dietician or registered nutritionist, I can tell what has worked for me.
I eat clean 90-95% of the time, then when I want a slice of key lime pie or some other dessert I eat it guilt-free. My diet is mainly fish, lean meat, eggs, fresh vegetables and fruits, gluten-free waffles, breads, and pasta. At my house the food is usually baked, grilled, steamed or pan-fried with a little extra virgin olive oil. No deep -fried food unless were on vacation. This is such a simple way to eat. Forget celebrity diets or other fat loss scams.
Rapid weight loss can be very bad for your health. You need to get the junk out of your trunk, but do it the smart way.
I Used To Be Able To.. Living in the past is detrimental to living in the present. That can be a major obstacle to taking action now to be lifelong strong I respect what people have accomplished in their earlier years. What you were then and what you are now worlds apart from each other.
You cant live in the past, its over. Its in the history books as they say. Enjoy the memories, but dont camp out there. You have to live in your present reality if you want to be lifelong strong. Theres work to be done now, in the present. Before we go any further, you should get a complete physical exam by a Medical Doctor.
Find out exactly your state of health. Dont ignore this because you might have something wrong inside you are not aware of. Men are the biggest offenders in not going to the doctor. The next thing is review and agree to our waiver. Okay so, if you did what I recommended with the mirror, then grabbed your first book to read, and have some idea of how to eat better lets deal with your ego. Gray Hair, A Red Corvette, And A 20 Year Old Girl Friend Guys are really good at fooling themselves, and I am sure women are too.
