One rainy Monday, I was scouring eBay for some old copies of Prediction magazine. I finally found what I was looking for: someone was selling a whole heap of them, so I nonchalantly placed a bid. To my delight, I won the auction and a few days later, a very large stash of used magazines showed up at my apartment. I unpacked the parcel, and there on the top was an old copy of Fate and Fortune. I went to set it aside, but it fell to the floor and opened at Leannas column. I was powerfully drawn to it. As I started to read, I knew immediately that we were connected and that somehow, we had to write a book together. My psychic senses screamed at me to email Leanna and present the idea. This is how we met, and, four books later, we are still united in our writing.

I was shocked, to say the least, when I received Shawns email. I had always slaved over my column and written books on my own, so venturing into a joint project seemed a little strange to me at first.

Having said all that, something enigmatic happens when Shawn and I write together. She is in the US and I am in the UK, yet somehow, across these many thousands of miles, we are synced to perfection. Its like we are sisters, operating from different parts of the world, having the same thought process along the way.

One night, after sleeping terribly, I woke up abruptly at around 6:00 a.m. I heard the words crystal craft being whispered into my ear, and I knew it was a spirit voice giving me an idea for our next book. Shawn said that we were once again being guided. With a smiling heart, we offer you our book on crystal witchery. We hope you enjoy!

The Basics of Wicca and Crystals

CRYSTALS ARE USED AND TREASURED BY ALMOST EVERY culture, religion, and society. For centuries, royals all over the world have donned priceless studded crowns that have been coveted. Crystals have been incorporated into glamorous jewelry and used as healing or magickal talismans. They have been celebrated, fought over, and displayed with pride. We mine crystals, revere them for their beauty, and even use them in modern technology. They contain the planets DNA, stamped with millions of years of evolutionary history.

Why is it that even today, we regard these cherished gemstones with such intensity, and why is it that we carry on these time-honored fascinations? It is probably because crystals embody magick. These captivating, enchanting stones carry so much mysticism that even today, we cant fully understand the extent of their power.

CRYSTALS: A BRIEF OVERVIEW

By the time a crystal lands in the palm of your hand, it has likely lived a very storied existence. Maybe the stone you hold was passed down from generation to generation. Perhaps it was buried deep within the walls of a cave, inside a volcano, or in a hydrothermal spring. It may be hundreds or thousands or even millions of years old. Some diamonds were formed more than 3 billion years ago!

A quick internet search or browsing of your local librarys shelves will reveal countless sources of information regarding crystals, stones, and minerals and how each variety is connected to a long and sometimes complicated history. One thing that has remained consistent since ancient times is our interest in gemstones and their inherent power. And, as youll learn throughout this book, crystals are every bit as relevant, useful, and valued today as they were thousands of years ago.
