INTRODUCTION
Your Life Is Guided from Beyond
Youre not alone.
Thats what the dead whisper in my ear every day.
A s a spiritual medium who has made it my lifes professional work to connect the living with those who have departed this earth, Ive spent the past two decades on a wondrous and amazing journey speaking to individuals, intimate groups, and large stadium audiences of men and women like you seeking insight, inspiration, and answers to lifes biggest inquiries. As you would imagine, I encounter a lot of curiosity around death, heaven, and the afterlife, but interestingly, the question I continue to get asked most often is: Are my deceased loved ones still present with me in some way?
I answer this question with an unequivocal and jubilant YES. Whats more, your passed loved ones surround you every day. Where our bodies die, our spirits do not. They continue to live on, transcending time and space, and while you may desperately miss, grieve, and long for your loved ones physical presence here on earth, your connection to them is not lost, nor will it ever be. Your relationship to them is eternal, and, whether in the physical form or in spirit, no one has a clearer connection to them than you do.
I say this with absolute confidence because every day I recognize their light and bright energetic bodies as they bounce back over from the Other Side, eager to connect with the living and assure us that death is not the end. I am still with you. I love you. One day, we will be together again, they say. I see them place their etheric hands on the hearts of their loved ones in an effort to alleviate suffering, loneliness, and pain. I feel them surround the living with their healing energy, and sometimes I can hear them as they quietly enter a room. And while you may not sense their subtle presence or be consciously aware of it, that doesnt mean they arent there. Our departed loved ones are closely tuned into us. They dial in to our heartfelt emotions; often, just thinking of them draws them to our side with a readiness to provide us with comfort, clarity, protection, and answers in the here and now.
Its natural to be skeptical of what you cannot see. And even if you already believe or have a subtle feeling or strong hunch that your departed loved ones are never truly gone, you may still wonder: How can I really be sure that they are with me in some shape or form? How do I know Im not making it fit? Or making it up? Some of you have asked me pointedly: How do you, Rebecca, know that youre not making it up?
Ive asked myself that same question many times over the years.
When I first sat down to write this book, I resisted sharing my personal experiences of what its like to live surrounded by spiritual guidance every day and, essentially, be me. Ive always maintained that the mediumship work I do isnt about my life; its about you. I believe that most authentic and accurate mediums remove themselvestheir personal history, opinions, and motivationsfrom the messages they deliver. To avoid miscommunication or misinterpretation of the signs from beyond, it is crucial that the medium simply act as a conduit, a pure channel between the living and the dead. For as long as Ive done this work, Ive tried to keep myself out of the spotlight and empower you to connect with the departed on your own.
So I could simply tell you to suspend your doubts or any disbelief you may have about the existence of an afterlife. I could say that when you just believe, thats when youll begin to receive and even feel the presence of the departed right alongside you. But I get it. You want proof that your loved ones are still with you and that there is something bigger beyond your day-to-day reality, and youre looking to me to give it to you.
Fair enough. And much deserved.
I believe that in addition to it being my lifes work and purpose to connect the living with the dead and pass on messages of support from beyond, its also my responsibility to share what Ive witnessed and personally experienced. I want you to know what I know about the afterlife, to not only indulge your curiosity or comfort you and assuage your grief but also to help you understand and appreciate your day-to-day lifes circumstances and challenges in the context of a much bigger picture. Throughout the following pages, I will share how I intuitively tune in to see, hear, and feel the presence of my departed loved ones, personal spirit guides, healing masters, and angelic helpers and how I use this insight to help me make better sense of, and find deeper meaning in, my world today.
Sounds kind of magical, doesnt it? My life does often feel enchanted in some kind of way, but please understand before you dive in that even though I have access to the Other Side, Im not immune to all that this life serves up. Im human after alla full-time working mom and stepmom with limited time, patience, and energy. On any given day, I easily get caught up in the demands of work and family life, anxiety over money, struggles over body image, friendship dramaand theres not a week that goes by when I dont have a scheduling conflict with my babysitter and three loads of laundry waiting to be washed. Just like everyone I meet and know, I too have real-world frustrations, and while I strive every day to keep it together and be the best that I can be, the daily grind can feel overwhelming and confusing. Its not unusual for me to wake up in the morning cloudy and unclear, racking my brain for answers. In other words, even I get stuck.
