T housands of people with interstitial cystitis (IC) live healthy, pain-free lives, and so can you. Im writing this book to share that message with patients far beyond the walls of my own clinic.

As a physical therapist, I help patients every day who struggle with the pain and urinary symptoms of IC. I see my patients several times a week and get involved in their lives. Im on the front lines, learning what works and what doesntsharing in the frustration when a flare compromises valuable progress or the joy of being able to return to work or go on a family vacation for the first time in years. Yes, interstitial cystitis is a difficult condition to manage, but there is hope. With dedicated effort, you can regain control of your health.

My patients are the inspiration behind this book. Many of them struggled with IC for years, shuttling from doctor to doctor before being diagnosed. Worse, some were quickly dismissed by their doctors, told the pain was all in their heads. And even after being diagnosed, many of my patients found little relief with the constant barrage of prescriptions and procedures and werent even given the most basic information about the condition. Thats why teaching my patients about the condition and how they can affect it is almost as important as the physical therapy we do.

Healing interstitial cystitis symptoms is a journey. It requires a holistic approach and a combination of treatments and therapies. Simply put, you can get your life back.
